It starts you off at enchanting skill of 10...just means you don't have to worry about the first 10 skill points.

I've always wondered about this, does it make items go grey/green faster when you are leveling?

yes it does...my mage is an enchanter and the items do go grey faster...you are starting out at 10.

This +10 seems kinda pointless to me cause you gain your first levels through Disenchanting, right? Thats just 10 less items you have to DE in the begining... I don't know, i could be wrong.

I couldn't say whether the interface shows recipie colors differently due to crafting profession racial bonuses (engineering gnomes, enchanting blood elves, jewelcrafting draenai, etc.), but I do know the game gives you the skillup chance of your unadjusted level. In other words, with the racial bonuses, you get the best of both worlds: access to higher-level recipies, plus normal skillup chances.

Oh ok, so i am wrong. It isn't useless. Thanks for the clarity.

thing is the +10 enchanting bonus was one of the reasons i picked a blood elf. its no good as people have said at the start as you'd get the first points in disenchanting anyway, and i've found my enchanting is at +330 odd now (working on tailoring first to max) whilst the items im breaking are round 225 at the moment. thing is tho if you max it out your 85-75, 160/150, 235/225. 310/300 respectively. high up enchanting is a pain higher up so if you think your requiring rods 10 enchant points later and once you hit outlands you only have 65 not 75 points to go to reach 375 it makes sense

To rephrase what has already been said for anyone whose reading comprehension is not the best:

You lose *nothing* by having an extra 10 points in Enchanting from being a Blood Elf, because your chances to skill up from an enchant are calculated as if you did not have those ten points. Whereas other races can only get up to 60 or so enchanting by disenchanting objects, you can get up to 70.

You *gain* access to recipies based on your adjusted level.
