Why cant Blacksmiths make sheilds?Follow

Why can't alchemist make nuclear bombs? It is science after all..

First of all you would need more technology than herbs and a container...


But it would make perfect sense if a Blacksmith could make a sheild.

Probably it's just one of those things that is too far down on the priority list. The failure to itemize heroic instances, the issues that was seen fairly early with TBC itemization balance and the ongoing problem with lack of items for certain talent builds illustrates that there's something wrong with how Blizzard goes about doing quest / craft / instance / faction itemization. Adding more items compounds those problems (ie more balancing issues).

It would make great sense if there was a couple of shields for all Blacksmiths to craft and some improved plans specific to Armorsmith. The current state of Armorsmith is very sad and it would be great to see the addition of a couple of pally shields for the various specs, something for the protection warriors etc. One or two gem sockets to add some room for customizing to personal preference would be sweet.

Ideally there would be both BoE rare (level 68 maybe) and epic shields (level 70) available for crafting to sell and a BoP epic (Primal Nether required) shield with Armorsmithing requirement. Unique art would be a bonus :-)

But then engineers will have no worth in a raid, their repair bots will be usless. /cry
