i feel ya buddy, i play on khadgar and the prices are a bit much for the middle-class player and they only get worse going up, i lvled my tailoring in a few days just buying stuff, but the mats do add up. my advice for the not so wealthy is to just farm. any 20+ humaniods drop wool so find a spot and grind to your heart's content. oh and if you have to make greens find a enchanter to DE and sell the mats instead of auctioning the gear, you make more money and have less deposites on the mats.

What level is your character?

Unless you're already a high level character and trying to power-level tailoring, I'd suggest you just take it slow and steady. Farm the mats as you quest and you'll save yourself a lot of money.

As for specific tailoring items to sell...in my experience, there aren't a lot of lower level items that will consistently make money. Bags are probably the most consistent. But, these are frequently subject to undercutters and people flooding the market. Specific cloth armor items are more sporadic. Some items may sell well to the twink crowd, but there won't always be a twink looking for what you're selling.

If you are level 20, why not grind the mobs for wool. Saves money + nets you exp. Hillsbrad farmers (if you are horde) isn't so bad for wool, especially when you do the chain quests involving them.
