#1 Aug 12 2007 at 8:56 AM Rating: Decent
Hi guys and gals :)
I was wondering how you make money as a engineer ? comming from a warrior with blacksmiting im not worried thats a hard proffesion to level, or so ive heard :)
But are there some stuff that sells well on AH ? because as far as I know most fo the items we can make are only useable for those with enginering.
Any advice/comment is apreciated :)

You don't choose engineering to make money. Period, end of statement. You choose engineering for the help it gives you personally. In general, this is true for all crafting skills, but engineering goes to the extreme. If you really want to make gold, choose a different profession.

get up to sniper scope level at least, and make money by selling those off. you won't be able to sell off tons of them at once but the money will trickle in, based on the time/cost of the mats you had to get.

adamantite and khorium scopes are better but due to their price, even hunters in the 60-70 range often choose sniper scopes.

Thanks for your replies :)
I am aware that enginering isnt a endless pot of gold and I will probably end up spending more than I make on leveling this...but I was hoping there was some things along the way that ease it up a bit he he

Agreed. But that said, there are a few things you can sell for good money relatively early on in the game.

  • Advanced Target Dummy - this currently sells for 7g on my server, as it's necessary for a quest
  • Guns, ammo and scopes - sold to hunters, though at least one gun is needed for an early quest (Deadly Blunderbuss, I believe, and another 2-3g per)
  • Hopfully, if you're an Engineer, you're also a miner. There's plenty of money to be had selling your leftover raw material

Actually, just take a look at this page -

I wouldn't expect to break the bank with it though.

You can usually sell 1 or 2 Gyrochronatom a day, for 2 g each. There is a badlands quest that needs them

As others have said scopes sell well, also don't ignore the Standard scope, 19 Hunter twinks need them.

ah yes you're right, i forgot about these other things, thinking only about certain classes.

gyrochronatum, bronze tube, mithril casing are quest items that i know of, that you will be able to get some profit on if you allow it to trickle in.

i have often been able to sell a bronze tube for 1-1.5g and mithril casing for 2-3g. not too bad considering what the ore itself goes for, so it's one of those few things you can make where the finished product is worth more than the mats.

of the three things listed, only the Mithril Casing is something that can't be purchased at an NPC vendor (for a lot less than the prices at the AH). ...and the Mithril casing feels like a really common drop (I've always managed to have one on hand before getting to the quest in Un'Goro)

this is true, too. vendors do have them but fortunately, enough players don't check the vendors that you can often still make the sell at the AH.

Since the Darkmoon Fair just ended, you can sell things there. Copper modulators and whirly bronze things are cheap to make, My twink sells copper tubes. Like they say, look for thing needed for quests and AH them. Sometimes vendors have them, but if they are out, they run to AH
