5 ways to make lots of gold with herbalism at 70 (may not work for all classes)
(1) solo Slave Pens for ancient lichen
No, you dont have to kill anything. Just run through the 1st and 2nd room, learn where the mobs patrol, and harvest all the herbs you can. Average harvest per run = 3-9 ancient lichen, 1-2 ragveil. Repeat 5 times an hour by running out and resetting the instance.
(2) big tree elites in skettis
I dont know how many classes can solo these. Give them a shot, maybe a few shots, use all your abilities and see if you can. Use your herbalism to "skin" these guys. Average harvest = 4 motes of life, 4 ragveil/felweed/terocone/other herb. Also keep your eyes out for other herbs, especially mana thistle up here in skettis, do the bombing run while your up here, and kill a few water elementals for some motes of water. Only downside - very crowded at peak times.
(3) Bog Lord things in zangermarsh
If you cant solo the elites in skettis, no problem. These guys are good too. And the bonus, they are level 61-62, so you can mow through them quickly. Use herbalism on these guys for a good drop rate on motes of life, felweed, other random herbs, and items for zangermarsh rep.
(4) Plain old gathering in Netherstorm
Ride/fly around netherstorm, gathering netherbloom. I just sold 32 for 55 gold, I'm a happy camper right now.
(5) Plain old gathering in Shadowmoon Valley
I havent had a chance to come gather here yet, but I know shadowmoon has its own variety of herbs. I'm sure its just as profitable as Netherstorm.
Now putting it to good use. I'd recommend some type of circuit, maybe something like this (~2 hour circuit, probably 150-200g in herbs, greys, primal lifes and greens)
1) fly to zangermarsh
2) farm slave pens dry, do your 5 minute lichen clears 5 times (25 minutes)
3) either gather in zangermarsh for 35 minutes, or grind on bog lords
4) back to slave pens, repeat process
5) fly to skettis, netherstorm or smv and gather there until you're bored/have to log off

Thats my advice though. Be patient. I must have spent 25g in repairs yesterday working through the first 2 rooms, seeing what I could and couldnt pick. I find it a rush, when you miss aggroing a mob by like 1 foot.

If you have stealth (that should concern mostly druids) you can do stealth runs in Underbog up to the nagas, several spawns of ancient lichen + hibiscus (quite expensive at AH) and a few other herbs. I used to do that all the time when I needed my sporeggar rep. However the prices for Ancient Lichen are quite bad on my server.
And yes the bog lords are nice (also for sporeggar rep). Also on my way from zangar to netherstorm, I always fly over the dead mire (epic mount helps), there are usually plenty of ppl killing giants there, I just go after them and skin.
If you are farming netherweb silk in the bone wastes, the walking trees can also be skinned.
The best herb to gather is terocone, it sells for the most (considering common herbs, of course I guess mana thistle sells for more). It's all over terrokar (go to the SW part where there's the connection to Nagrand, fewer ppl there than in other places) and there's a bit in the arakoa areas in SMV.
Other "hot spot", the ogre camp just over Shattrath, several spawns of mana thistle and dreaming glory, takes 5 minutes max whenever you're in town and for most of the spawns you don't even need to kill a mob.
The eco-domes in Netherstorm are pretty good too, and in most of them there's only a couple of quests to do and ppl don't go there any more afterwards.

The elites in Skettis are my favorite place to grind these days on my hunter if I need Ancient Lichen for potions for my priest, or just for herbs to sell. They are pretty tough so not all classes will be able to solo them.
Heads up though, my guild leader is a prot warrior and he solo's them for the herbs. It takes him a good 2-3 minutes to kill one, but due to his gear they rarely hit him. Hope for all you prot characters out there.

It's been a while since I did that stealth run but I remember coming at the bog lord at the ledge before the bridge, there's a sanguine hibiscus behind him than can be gathered with precaution. But then there are 2 patrolling nagas on the small bridge, with stealth detection. I never figured out how to go past them.

Also a while ago for me. But I think those naga's on the bridge (presuming we're talking about the same naga's/bridge...) don't have stealth detection, only those standing next to the gate after the bridge have.
Anyhow, I always got past them without a problem. :)
