Does anyone think there may be a cooldown timer on discoveries? I have had 2, with about 12 days between. I've probably made 300 elixirs in that time. I make a profit (or at least break even on the cost of mats) so i'm not complaining, but I really got involved with the whole scam trying to discover the flask I use for raiding. So far, its been an arcane flask & a shadow flask.
Has anyone had discoveries over less time than 12 days? Even a transmute is a 1 day cooldown, and cloth transmutes are 4. any thoughts?

Back to back discoveries have been documented. I have had 2 discoveries within 10 minutes or so when I was just sitting down and using all the herbs in my bank to make space :-)
I can't remember everything I've discovered but it includes the shadow flask, flask of mighty resto, one primal transmute and a couple of potions.
So all in all no cooldown. However make sure you are doing only recipes that use outland mats, if the recipes you are using only require azeroth mats then no chance of discovery.

Is there any restrictions of sorts in regards to discoveries? as in charlevel,alchemylevel and so on?
I have a priest that is level 55 no,with 340 alchemy...do I have a chance for discovery at all with my current status?

The only requirement I am aware of is that you are making a recipe that uses Outland mats. aka Felweed, Ragveil, Primals, Motes, etc.
Not that this is any different than what was stated above, but to clarify, you can get discoveries off of items that include old world mats, but they must use new world mats too (i.e. onslaught elixir is 1 old world + 1 new world).

Er...I hate to complicate things, but I discovered a Flask in Shattrath while making up Swiftness Potions...

I don't know if I'm just incredibly unlucky but I had never seen a discovery until last night, and I make a LOT of pots.. I couldn't even guess how many TBC pots I have made, finally discovered Arcane Fort. last night while brewing a Healing Power Elixir.. Do we have any suspicions about discoveries on certain recipes? Like Onslaught Elixir > Relentless Assault, etc? Because I was greatly disappointed with my discovery, I have been hoping to discover something a little more useful for my raiding feral druid.. If we have some kind of connection between the pot and the discovery I could concentrate on making certain things. If anyone else can post what they discovered while making what, we could see if there's any connection at all..
There's a HUGE thread on the US o-boards listing who discovered what when brewing what, and I think the conclusion was that it's totally random, which is also my experience (got transmute mana to fire discovery while brewing a potion, etc.)

So it's all about luck I think. I've had 6+ discoveries already though (flasks of arcane fort, shadow fort, mighty resto, fortification, the transmute above, super rejuv pot, and another pot I think)

My main is an alch, i waited to make flasks/pots until the patch corrected the discovery glitch.at 375 I made 2 flask discoveries and a worthless transmute, like fire or air to earth ( yeah, im gonna do that). Then i was helping my son level, he discovered the shadow flask at about lvl 330, sitting in shatt tree, then discovered arcane within 10 minutes.
