Fishing hmmm...Follow

Hi I'm new to world of war craft, but not new to MMORPG. Just so you all know where I stand.

Well anyway when I'm fishing I have 150 fishing skill and just catch them annoying snappers. :(

I sometimes get Oily Black mouth etc in the other island but never really get any good fish I could sell for profit, I had to hunt a while just to afford my +5 fishing stat rod.

Can anyone give me advice on how to catch better items/fish. Thanks.

What's your faction? Are you on a PvP server? Finding the good locations to fish at depends on those answers. I have no idea why you dislike Firefin Snappers. They are money in your pocket.

It's good to have your input on this subject. However, you should confine yourself to answering the question instead on making off-the-wall comments. It's quite obvious that YOU will never make any money from fishing. Consider yourself a loser. I'm quite aware that some people find fishing to be boring, and I'm fairly certain that the OP knows this as well. However, "Fishing is boring" does not address the question of "Can anyone give me advice on how to catch better items/fish", and that's why your remark displays the brainpower of a flatworm - and I may be giving the flatworms too much credit.

grinding mobs is boring (and very slow for a healer).
fishing is like a scavenger hunt. it's FUN!!!

i fished all along the shores of hillsbrad foothills to level up for fishing in feralas. now i've got max fishing and make lots of gold in outlands.

foothills has a good mix of firefins and blackmouth. fish them both out to get respawns (cherry picking has diminishing returns - only do that if you only have time to make 1 pass)

If you could reveal your faction and character level we could help you out. No use sending you to a zone where the mobs will wipe you out while you fish.

Fishing might be boring, but definitly not well paying. Heck, fishing helped support my habit of being obsessed with trying to lvl up in enchanting as soon as I could.
I spent so much time fishing that all my friends passed me up and are now pushing lvl 68-70. Funny part is, now I am high enough enchanter with some good formulas(purchased...lol) that they come to me everytime they want an enchant. Even my guildies used to beg me to fish Firefins for there alchemy habits. I did slack off though and have staggered at fishing lvl 268, but starting to make a come back!!

By the way, at random times, I was making 5-10g every couple of days by selling stacks of firefins, oilys, and stonescale eels. Plus, the added bonus of my cooking being at 300 before I hit lvl 50. So I really dont have to buy my food if I don't want to. Lets see: Squid -agility, greater sagefish - nice mana boost, Omelets - nice stamina boost....oh well guess you will miss out!!

The Deviate fish in the ponds outside the Wailing Caverns in the Barrens sell nicely. And, if you're a cook and can make the Deviate Fish Delight....even better.

You shouldn't have payed too much for the +5 fishing rod. Certain vendors sell it (you could try searching here :P).

So you have 150+5 fishing skill, and it sounds like fish are getting away? Your question is a little unclear. I'm not sure if you've tried, but try using fishing lures. I believe theres a fishing trainer in the major cities (ask a guard), and beside the fishing vendor should be a "fishing supplies" person. They sell vendor lures, usually +25, +50 and maybe a single +75 lure.

Engineers can also make +100 lures, but those shouldn't be needed at your level.

Good if you are horde, but if you are alliance on a PvP server? Yeah, right!

"Here I am, hordies! Please, oh please gank me! ...and as long as you're in the area, camp my body!"

ohmikeghod.....Horde don't do that....we let allies fish in our ponds....

Well I guess I am an offender of that. I did month or so ago wipe a ne that was fishing. I waved to her and she didn't acknowledge my wave. So I acknowledged her death....sorry alli....But I at least did it with my rogue and not my main. That would not have been fair!!...lol

level 15 rogue night elf, Azune server, like 130+5 fishing skill, using +5 skill rod.

Thanks.
I mean the crappy 1 copper snappers.

Ah, Mud Snappers.

Go to Darkshore. If you haven't done Blump's fishing quest or the electropellaer quest, do both of those - easy skillups and XP. Along the coast of Darkshore, you will find a few Oily Blackmouth and some Firefin Snappers. Those are your money fish. If you want to, you can take the boat from Auberdine to Menethil Harbor, where both seem to be more plentiful.

Aszune is a European PvE server, so you don't have to worry about getting ganked if you go to the Barrens and fish the oases there. I think that the Stagnant Oasis is a better place to start fishing there for Deviate fish, because the turtles there seem to drop the recipe for Savory Deviate Delight fairly often. At least, that's where I picked up all of mine. The fish sell well, but cooked, they sell even better and for more gold. There are more deviate fish to be caught at Lushwater Oasis, and at the pool just outside of the Wailing Caverns, but go for the recipe first.

When you get to around Level 25, you should be at 225 fishing skill. At that time, you should make your way to Tanaris and get the FP to Gadgetzan. Yes, I know that the zone is L40-50, but fishing there is fairly safe, as long as you stick to fishing at Steamwheedle Port and Wavestrider Beach. The turtles don't aggro, and fishing is safe. Use +75 lures, Fish all of the pools, and when there are no pools, Fish for Oily Blackmouth, Firefin Snapper, Stonescale Eels, and clams (which sometimes contain pearls). Be sure to bring lures with you, since there isn't a place you can buy them in either Gadgetzan or Steamwheedle Port.

If you had been on a PvP server, my advise would have been a bit different. There is an open bounty (at least it seems like there is) on Night Elf scalps in The Barrens, and the same holds true for Tanaris.
