Recipes as reputation rewardFollow

Looking at the reputation rewards for some factions, it occurs to me that some professions get more rewards than others.

I did some counting for a few well-known factions: Scryer, Aldor, Consortium, Cenarion Expedition, Lower City and Sha'tar. Total amount of recipes:
- Engineering: 2
- Alchemy: 11
- Tailoring: 9
- Jewelcrafting: 24
- Leatherworking: 24
- Blacksmithing: 14
- Enchanting: 7

(NB I didn't check if there are recipes you can get from more than one faction.)

So, are professions like engineering and tailoring unlucky for getting so few recipes? Or are they lucky because they can get recipes easier...?

One aspect at least re: alchemy vs other profs is that most old lvl 60 patterns have now been superseded by lvl 70 patterns, whereas for potions and elixirs it is not necessarily the case, or in some cases they can now only be discovered (random chance of discovery while using alchemy with outland mats). Therefore several outland factions offer access to "old" lvl 60 recipes, especially for flasks, that would otherwise only be available via pre-TBC raiding.

For example the recipe for Flask of Distilled Wisdom was accessible only via a drop from Stratholme (or AH with very high prices), it's now available as well with Cenarion Exalted rep - but it's not a new recipe.

Similarly in patch 2.2 some old but useful enchants from AQ40 will be made available via faction rewards (including e.g. the much-needed +15 agi on gloves)

Interesting comparison - I'd be interested in looking at the other factions too - Honor Hold/Thrallmar and Sporeggar.

To me it seems blacksmithing doesn't have many BC rep rewards, I wish there were more. But I guess you can run instances and get recipes that way, it's just not a sure thing like rep is.

It could just be that there are more recipes in general available to, say, blacksmiths than there are to enchanters. So the percentage of rep recipes is equal even if the actual number isn't.
