#1 Jul 24 2007 at 1:22 PM Rating: Decent
Anyone out there know the lvl for fishing in Winterspring?
I am lvl 265 fisherman and it said I was not high enough lvl to fish there.

Sorry a basic question but checked past forums and couldn't find. Checked area and didn't see any notes.

Guess it is bauble time....lol

This site is great for anything fishing related: http://www.capsu.org/wow/fish/kalimdor.html

Scroll down to the bottom for Winterspring, you will see you need skill 330 to even cast there.

That is an excellent site for all things fishing.

OP, be prepared to use baubles pretty much from here on out. I'm maxed at 375, with +20 pole with +5 line, +2 glove enchant, +5 hat, +5 boots and I still need to use lures in Outland in most areas to avoid the "Fish got away" messages. I prefer the +75 baubles because they're cheaper, more widely available, and last longer than the +100 baubles. But, even with the +75s (so my fishing is buffed at 487), I will still get "Fish got away" in the Flying mount accessible fishing areas. Just a head's up.

Good luck and enjoy fishing :)

Yes, Again thanks for the info. I was killing myself trying to find mightfish I needed for cooking. Well now I know where to go. I used to take pride in my fishing because I was the highest lvl fisherman in my guild...then I quit fishing soo much and went to lvling.....lol

But now I will devote some more time because I LOVE the buffs that cooking the fish give. Thanks also for the bauble info, time to stock up on those also.

To Azwing: Jeepers, with all your fishing buffs (except the Arcanite Rod),I suggest finding an engineer and getting a few stacks of +100 lures made to have on hand for fishing Skettis for those Mixed Highland Schools.
My fishing is at 495 (375,+20 (Seth's Graphite Rod),+100 (Aquadynamic Fish Attractors),and I get that highly annoying "Your fish got away" message frequently when fishing mixed highland schools.
40 bronze bars,20 nightcrawlers, and 20 Coarse Blasting Powders will (through an engineer) get you 3 20 stacks of +100 lures; that's 5hrs. worth of fishing at your bump adjusted lvl of 512...For the price (cheap),and the bump in skill,I think your fishing up there will be much more efficient. And who knows, you might even catch a Mr.Pinchy.
Please try the +100's,then report back here with the results.

To mbrandongonz: Pop on down to Tanaris, hit the beach and bring your fishing skills up the 300 lvl range there first. Lot's of schools, lots of opportunity for some relatively fast skillup points there, and no lures required. You will,at times, still get the "Your fish got away message" with lvl 375 fishing in Winterspring.

The Aquadynamic Fish Attractors now last 10 minutes instead of 5 (as of Patch 2.1), so those mats will give you 10 hours of fishing bliss.

Hey Thermalnoise

10 minutes now? /Headslap (mine). Didn't know that, and my 375 in fishing character is also 375 in Engineering. This guy:

Thank you for the good news -rare indeed that engineering gets any love, let alone a modest buff to a very modest toy. I'll have to investigate further -who knows- there may now be another post 2.2 patch Engineering bone, maybe another oh-so-useful (Pastel)Smoke Flare schematic available as a rep reward at Exalted somewhere... Likely Black Temple.
Thanks too for the chuckle; 10 hours of bliss from 3 stacks?
Lol,meh...I use those primarily in Skettis, and fishing in Skettis is far more stressful than blissful.
I still hold out hope that I wil bag a Mr.Pinchy (sometime before the next expansion pack is out) among Furious Crawdads and Golden Darters, but it seems Mr.Pinchy is a rare spawn from Mixed Highland Schools found only around the big lake in Skettis -the one with the island in the middle. Now,I accept the fact that I will have to fight 1-3 lvl 70-71 mobs to make a quiet "My Space" to fish in,whether on the island,or onshore. I am less accepting (okay, peeved really) that at 495 skill I still lose far to many fish: My Zen-like focus on that bobber is all for naught; the mocking "Your fish got away" (again...) prompt all too common. Better still, and still on the darkside, is having your bobber focus broken first by a "dry" cast -bobber just dips at the end of 20 seconds -then far more alarmingly -seeing your health bar bob downwards to the tune of a 2K+ hit (on plate) because one of those freakin' roaming 71-2(?) Elites has just found you,and while you can make a fight of it,you (me anyway) can't take out a 71 Elemental Elite. They don't bleed. I dunno...Maybe I should stop listening to relaxing MP3 files while enjoying my "blissful" fishing time in Skettis, and tune in to eminent-death-approaching-now sounds likely provided by the environmental portion of the game soundtrack. That way at least,it would all mesh -my ears would hear what my eyes see: "Your fish got away...(Combat log): Crushing blow crits you for 2800...You are dead...Equipped item$ $uffer 10% durability lo$$....Ka-ching. Yep,paying repair bills for "blissfull" fishing just ices the cake.
And hey,now that I am reliving the "bliss" of fishing in Skettis (only possible because of engineering),why don't the Engineering Devs (likely the same motely crew who located the spawn points for those Mixed Highland Schools) toss a couple of more fishable trinkets into the mix? They would be Engineers, naturally, but accessible to all who caught them. They would only "work" in Skettis, while fishing. And,most importantly (in true engineering fashion),a mixed blessing to be sure. In the spirit of start with "P",end with "y" theme, call them "Mr.Pally" and "Mr.Priesty". That Elite is back -again? Hit that trinket now...Aside from the positive,butt-saving buffs, there would be ample room for misfires,ie: "Mr.Pally casts Holy Light (Rank 11); Holy Light backfires. You lose 2250 Health." Or,"Mr.Priesty casts Power Word Shield. Mr.Priesty is now AFK"...You get the idea.
Sorry for the ramble, and thanks once again for the 3 stack "10 hours of blissful fishing" notice.

Cheers :)
