#1 Jul 23 2007 at 3:03 PM Rating: Decent
i am a lvl 32 Night elf rogue atm.i have 225 alchemy and 225 herbalism.this is my first character and i am having trouble making money with this. i know i should of chosen skinning and herbs but i love potions.

The thing is idk if i will have enought money to get a Mount by the time i get to lvl 40 because i only have 30g right know.i dint make the money using alchemy or herbs but from rare cloth armour that i found one day.

so the Question is should i drop alchemy and get skinning and try to get money that way. i dont think i can make money using herbalism only.

You can get good money from herbalism at level 32. Around that level, Fadeleaf was one of my best sources of income, selling for up to 10 gold a stack on the AH. Swiftthistle, which is found in Mageroyal plants, goes for up to 5. When you feel brave/strong enough to wade into the Swamp of Sorrows, you will find blindweed that will not only sell for a good price, but also level up your herbalism FAST. 225 is, if i remember correctly, the skill you need to gather them.

I also recommend you to get the recipes for Free Action Potion and Swiftness Potion, those are easy to sell as they are used in PVP! You will need fishing for the first, or buying the fish on the AH will cancel out the profit.

There are some good guides for both herbalism and alchemy here on Allakhazam. Personally I would check the AH to see which herbs/potions are in demand and concentrate on those. Good luck! :)

The Swamp of Sorrows is a level 35-40 zone. It is a good place to level up the herbalism once you get the artisan level. I recommend looking through the guides in the menu on the left side of this site, they tell you, among a lot of other things, which level the mobs are in different zones.

Alch / herb is a great way to make money.

AH the best healing pots you can, they always sell. Make sure the pots you are making are going to sell for more than the raw herbs, sometimes some herbs sell for more than the pots they make (swiftthistle, briarthorn, fadeleaf sell well).
Agility, invisiblity pots sell well too.
Search for the rare recipes, I once got a flask recipe off the AH for like 2g, they are worth like 200.

As lvl 34 priest (my first character)
I am very happy with my herbalist/alchemist combo. I have cooking and fishing too, and they help me make extra money. Actually, just now the best moneymaker in my server is Deviate Fish Delight, that changes you ninja or buccaneer for 1 hour. Totally useless, but fun! I'll fish Deviate Fish and cook Deviate Fish Delight and sell them on AH for 70S-1G/pcs. Swiftthistle(comes with Mageroyal and Briarthorn) is always selling good. If you can't breathe underwater, buy some potion and harvest Stranglekelp, it sells well. Or fish Oily Blackmouth and make Blakmouth Oil and sell it or make potions, like Water Breathing Potion.

But first of all, go to your AH and check what's selling and what's not. I have noticed that all levels of same potions sell differently. Like Strong Troll's Blood Potion sells on my server ca 1G, but stronger version is difficult to sell.

With this combo (alchemist 225 now, herbalist 243, fishing 225, cooking 179) I already have the money for my first mount and a really comfortable cushion towards future costs and I'm buying all necessary recipies in AH I can find for a reasonably price.
