Probably been answered, didnt see any post titles that would reference this or anything in the sticky (skimmed though, didnt read through), but like the title says: do sharpening stones and weapon enchants stack? i.e. with a 4.00 attack speed weapon in the 39 bracket, could I put +70 AP chant (+20 damage) and +8 damage stone for +28 total damage?

Yes. Enchants are permanent. Sharpening stones are temporary and do not overwrite the enchant.

However there are some things that wont.

Shaman buffs like windfury, rockbiter, flametounge etc
rogue poisons
sharpening stones will not stack, you can only have one. so if the shaman drops a windfury totem you cant use a sharpening stone (atleast not on your mainhand if you are dual wielding) and if you are a rogue and want windfury you cant put a poison on your mainhand weapon or you wont get it. just an FYI

You use the sharpening stone to buff your weapon. The buff shows up in your buff window. You can die and the weapon keeps the buff, so don't worry about PVP. I used +3 enchant and +3 sharp in PVP all the time. The sharp buff lasts 30 minutes and stays on weapon. I swapped out to another weapon and the buff stayed on the weapon and dropped off my buff box, so its really a weapon buff. You can use one on each weapon if you dual wield.

Like fjalarr said its a buff and is treated that way, you can compare it with it for example +100 hp on chest and a health buff from the captain in AV (or whatever)
