#2 Jun 30 2007 at 11:20 PM Rating: Good
the following professions make the most gold (in order of most gold):

1. Enchanting (treat as a gathering skill, not as selling enchants)
2. Mining
3. Fishing
4. Herbalism
5. Skinning

I have found that skinning for me seems to make me more money on the server i play on (At least at higher lvls) . I can sell a stack of 20 Adamantite bars for mabey 20g and sell a stack of Knothide leather for 15g a stack which is much faster to get. But thats just what i have found. Considering that on my server people LOVE to farm the nodes and just spend hours going in circles(which would bore the crud out of me and id just go watch TV).

yes thats actully what i was thinking when i saw skinning at the bottom but the three that i would pick would be enchanting mining skinning but enchanting and skinning are the ones i would pick

I didn't say skinning was bad, just not as lucrative. The really good thing about skinning is that you can find mobs to skin easily in any zone you can think of. No running around looking for nodes. Like any other gathering skill, what you get out of it depends on what you put into it. I've made a lot of gold for my skinners just by soloing Wailing Caverns. There are more skins there than can fit into 4 16-slot bags...

If you're starting off with no money, ***** enchanting. Mining and Herb. all the way. You will HARDLY farm your enchanting mats, esp at low lvls unless you have tons of items you can D/E.

If you haven't noticed, "tons of items" are available at the AH at prices even a lowbie can afford. Doubling your silver is really easy, and soon you'll be doubling your gold.

im still deciding on which to go skinning or mining, mining you have to find the nodes, and fight over, skinning you just skin anything.. and cobra skins on my server just for one seems to sell for as much as an adamantite stack, which i believe you have to have 2xore to make 1 bar which could be a pain, but the one thing about mining is you have a chance at getting rare gems.. which you end up selling for 40g or so.. so id think they both would end up being around the same income.

why would you go mining and herbs.. how do both those things show up on your mini map at the same time?

fishing actually makes money? i never knew that i just thought it was useless.. only good for maybe a hunter to feed their pets.. think my skill in fishing is like 10.

the problem is that you are selling bars -- which require two adamantite ore. Sell the ore, I sell a stack of 20 ore for 20-24g a stack, times two = about 45g for two stacks on average (twice as much as the lousy bars).

Fishing is definitely not useless. I make money from it.

Like everything else it takes time. Time to level it up, time to find what sells (usually cooked), and time to gather and cook what you need to make that money.

Hmmm...long term,I would have to say Mining and Jewelcrafting. Alot of work, some luck, and an awful lot of money reinvested (2+ Epic Flyer's with training's worth)but my level 60 Rogue Now has all available blue gem recipes (excluding Metas) except 1. Still missing Wicked Noble Topaz...If you have miner(s) who can keep a good supply of ores incoming for prospecting, and a very solid catalogue of cuts, you can make a tremendous amount of play money. My 70 warrior "works" for my 60 rogue.

i wouldn't put a lot of money in on the jewelcrafting, it takes a lot to make money at it. Tier 1 gems sell for 25s to a vender or 2-3 gold in ah but your running against everyone else who puts them up and there is always a crazy amount of people selling, 2 tier 2 gems from prospecting come about 1 per 35 prospecting, and 1 per 50 fel iron, so it's a bit of the pain about 1/3 of the tier 2's you'll get are talasite which is overly populated on most ah's making it semi worthless. then throw your jewelcraft patterns prices from ah unless you run instances forever to get them at 2-800 a pop and. It takes a long time to make money jc'ing. over time i could see it but starting out. it sucks. It did make decent money when you could vender sell tier 1 gems for 1g but blizzard nerfed that to 25 s and its just about as prosperous to sell them for 15s to a vender without the cut. unless your your guild's only jcer i don't recommend jewelcrafting as a money maker

How much do you spend on Eng? Unless you are not a miner, you can't be spending too much.

QFT-Never Smelt the ore unless: 1) It will give you mining pts. 2) You need the bars for some reason. By simply smelting the ore, you reduce the value a ton.

3. Fishing

??? Please expound... I've sold a little fish on the ah, but not that much.

Actually, fishing should have been #2 in my list. Before I started Disenchanting last September, Fishing had been my favorite way of making gold. As a Level 10, I could get to Menethil Harbor and make 5G/hour. At level 15-35, I could go to The Barrens and make 10G/hour. After doing the fishing quest at L35, I'd take a toon to Tanaris and fish there for about 25G/hour, scaling up nicely to about 80G/hour at L70. Fishing is covered pretty nicely in the FAQ.

i think tht the best method of money making is blacksmithing and mining....u sell the ores for money or u can smelt them and make them into armor....1 bronze chain mail which requires 6 bronze bars merchants for about 10s each..and tht is only bronze
