hey i was wondering which gathering skill makes the best gold between mining, skinning and herbs reason why is because id like to make all the gold back that i blew on making BS epic mace which the 3rd verison is nearly worse then the gladiator season 2 mace.
point is ill never get the vortexs to make the third one, and the glad mace is now better then the dragonmaw so once i get it i plan to drop BS and take up a gathering skill.
soo that is the reason why i am wondering.
i know everyone will have their own opinion so ill prob total the number of each to come to the conclusion

Of the gathering skills, mining will make you the most gold. Check your AH to see whether raw ore or bars sell for more. Since you are already a high-level blacksmith, your mining skill should already be high (if not already maxed).

Mining is 1 of the higher of the gathering skills. It depends on relem for the next 1. Some Herbs go higher than other (Swifthistle because of Swiftness Potion) and then again, Leather also has it's high points. Blacksmiths, Enginers (not spelled right) and Leatherworkers all need it. Check your Auction house for Heavy+ and decide for yourself which of the 2 (herb or skinning) would be better 2 accompany mining.
the reason im trying to find the highest profitting gathering skill is because of the amount of gold i spent leveling BS, i never dropped enchanting because i am a master in it, i used an alt to farm up to mithril then just bought the rest which still cost an insane amount, but now that i believe BS and the epic mace to be basically useless i plan to drop it.
thanks for the help.. just need to get a good MH mace or maybe try another combat spec and pick up the gladiator weapon of that spec.
still wouldnt mind others opinions on which is best tho.

If you treat enchanting as a gathering skill (instead of hawking enchants), it can be more lucrative than mining.

Mining does probably bring in the most gold, but I've found that skinning has more versatility, if you want to call it that.
The results of this gathering skill can be used by more professions. It can be used by leatherworkers (obviously), blacksmiths, engineers and tailorers as opposed to the other gathering skills where the results can only be used by one or two professions.

eh...they all have potential to make execellent gold. I killed 25 DevilSaurs in Un'Goro and sold 25g worth of Devilsaur leather right off the bat...along with 300 Thick leathers...Mining has the potential to give u extra stuff, like Gems and such and it all sells well. And rare and high level herbs nodes sell really good also.
It seems to me that more and more people are turning to 2 gathering professions nowadays...
But really, there is no best of the best anything. You just do what you can with what you have.
Selling Enchanting components is a boon. Just make a choice on either Mining and skinning for a second profession. Skinning most likely if you are always on the move
