Drop skinning for herbalism?Follow

Hey everyone,

As you can see in my sig I am a 317 skinning and 375 mining. I found that leveling skinning was a pain and doesn't make too much money, then I thought... why not switch over to herbalism and level it up. I know that I can only keep one tracker on at a time, but while I have one on I tend to always see other types around me as well so I can still find the opposite item while questing/etc.

Any opinions or have any positive feedback on how well herbalism/herbs sell on the AH?

I don’t mind switching between the two trackers but many people do. For that reason as you have identified, I would suggest to keep it as you are now.

If you want to test it out, work up a level 5-10 char, and see how you feel with switching the two trackers on and off. Generally you may feel that around the grassy areas, keep Herbs up..and around ravines and mountains, keep Mining up..but give it a try first on a throw-away char.

Or do it on your high-level char and if things don’t work out, the amount of items you get working it back up should be nice pocket change when you sell them.

very good idea. I may just try that out and see how the money comes in.

skinning 375 is worth it just to farm [Thick Clefthoof Leather]. It's like free money.

ahh very nice, I should have paid more attention as to what you can skin or get later on. I will have to go grind up my skinning.

I dropped skinning 375 for herbalism over this past weekend. Of course the disclaimer goes that each server is different but I don't regret it at all.

My decision was based on the fact that I just don't farm skinnable mobs like I used to. Mostly I mine and kill cloth/coin dropping mobs for a solid income with herbalism on the side.

Herbs are selling well. Terocone, Nightmare Vine, Dreaming Glory all very easy to obtain and sell quickly. Not to mention I send a stack or so to the guild alchemist to provide all the pots/elixirs I need. As a bonus you'll get motes of life or unidentified plant parts - you can't get anything extra from skinning.

Gah he found my 'secret' >.> hehe. yes, i farm these things like crazy, and put them up for sale for 75G/stack, and they always sell. People need so many thick clefthoof leathers for mats they sell fast. Im thinking of raising the price again, just because i always have the most on the AH, and whether i get undercut or not, mine always sell. this is how ive been getting my money for my full frozen shadoweave, spellstrike mats, and almost enough to get my girdle of ruination now ;)
