What trade skill, for a shaman?Follow

#1 Jun 09 2007 at 12:21 PM Rating: Decent
I wanna end up a caster, so +spell damage? +nature dmg? on gear is probably what I should get right?

now does leather craft or tailoring? give most of that? or should I just get drops for my class?

Can others enchant your gears? how does that work? do you lend your gear to a enchanter to get it that way?

im really lost when it comes to great trade skills, for a warrior I can see why blacksmithing is great, because you can get some of the best weapons around made by yourself and they require blacksmithing to equipt and so on.

Id love some imput on what to pick and level, and why... help a lost shaman out.

I'm not a shaman, so I can't answer. Take this part of the question to the shaman forum.

Definitely not tailoring. You don't wear cloth.

Others can enchant your stuff. Put it into the "do not trade" slot of the trade window.

You really have to make a decision: do you want to make stuff for yourself, or do you want to make gold to buy stuff for yourself? The profession you choose will depend on the answer to that question.

I went... Enchanting/Tailoring for my 27 Shammy. Yes, I cookie-cutter'd it. "Make you're own Tailoring greens, then Disenchant them!"

I just really did not want to level another Leatherworking toon.

Tailoring is the only one where you can enchant, and make items to be desynthed tho. Which is not a huge deal, until you start needing the greens from instances you can't solo...but I'm no where near that stage yet.

Utter nonsense. Over half of the greens I disenchant are crafted items, and those are cloth, leather, mail, plate, and engineered items. The poster is deluded if he thinks that the only greens that can be disenchanted come from cloth. Tailoring, however, is the only crafting skill that doesn't have an associated gathering skill - which is why it's chosen as a pair for disenchanting most often.

However, even then you have to look at the market to decide whether AH sale of cloth, AH sale of an items, or AH sale of enchanting mats is worth the most. This is especially true when you get to the higher level cloth items.

I chose to simplify my decisions by pairing skinning with enchanting. That way, I only need to look at the price of mats when deciding on disenchanting something.

Wow, where that come from?

Unless you want to pick another profession, and buy your mats and synth items to disenchant that's fine with me. I understand you can get your greens/blues etc for disenchanting anywhere, I really don't think I sounded like I thought they only came from Tailoring stuff. Quest, AH, item drops, you name it you can disenchant it.

So what was the issue with tailoring being a seperate profession where you can still make green armor, then disenchant it, and still have the profession of enchanting?

The best trade to me is the one that makes you rich! Number 1 is mining, and for number 2 herbalism or skinning. You spend nothing, need nothing to make items that you won't sell anyway because everyone else makes the same ones, and skip paying big money for each recipe you can learn. From the trainer (cause at lvl 60 you pay your trainer around 2G per recipe!!) and from the AH.

I took 2 gathering professions with my latest character, after starting on a new server (from scratch....) and had money for my mount at lvl 25 + Zealot Blade waiting in the bank. So you see...
At the same time i'm levelling tailoring with my main character, it just costs money and makes me grind for rare ingredients for hours.
From now on i will ONLY gather ;)
