just started mining on my hunter and been looking around and cant seem to find many iron veins. where would they be located?

Please take a minute or two to check the Mining section on the Trade Skills FAQ, stickied at the top of the forum.
If you just started mining, your skill is too low to mine iron. You'll need to start with copper and work your way up.

im aware of this. i was meaning that i had just started mining that day and was getting it up using AH ore and im at 142. iron ore cant smelt me and more lvls so i need to get some iron deposits
Badlands is great for Iron, I stuck around to 225 and grabbed mithril that popped up also.
Still on the First page: "iron ore"
