Hello! I would like to know your toughts on the price of recipes and how to evaluate one when you put it on sale.

For example, Allakhazam lists Pattern: Tough Scorpid Shoulders as being worth 1g and about 40s if i recall correctly, the item in itself 3g50s, and the cost of materials around 8g. For a skill level above 200.

Is it normal for that recipe to be that cheap? I know that the prices differ depending on the server, so what should I take into consideration when selling such a pattern as the one above for ex.?

Thanks.

From what I remember they have a higher drop rate than some others. I know when I was over in that zone (Tanaris?) I was getting at least 4 a night. That is probably the main reason they are so cheap.

That recipe is a very common drop if you spend any time at all in Gadgetzan doing quests. So as a result, it's median price is low across all realms.

You can use Allakhazam for a rough idea of what an item is worth, but each realm has it's own economy and will vary. Many people use the Auctioneer addon to help track AH pricing on their specific realm.

If all else fails, check the AH, if there's nothing listed, try a 10% increase over Alla's median and see if it sells. If there's one or two up, an item like this recipe probably won't sell.

i never pay attention to Allakhazam prices or drop rates. the best guage is your server's AH.

eg, a 100% drop rate recipe item from a vendor still can sell for 2-3x the cost, but Allakhazam might report it differently, assuming no one would buy it from the AH!

but for that particular recipe, it's a very common drop. LWs probably buy it for 50s sometimes, so listing it at 2g may not even sell.

Allakhazam's database of pricing is based off AH on all realms, so if it is getting listed, it's got a price. It's not conjecture or assumptions.

My character resides on the Antonidas server, which is a fairly new server. It seems that things sell for a much higher price than on other servers simply because not everyone knows where to get these items.

Thanks to a friendly mage, I got ported to Shattrath early. I found that I could buy the "Transmute Primal Might" recipe at the Shattrath vendor for 8g and turn it around for 15g in the AH. Now, the sad part? I actually had a level 70 alchemist who was in Shattrath at the time, ask me to pull my auction so that she would be guaranteed the recipe and she would give me 20g. I'm normally not an a$$, but a level 70 alchemist who has no idea where to buy the "Transmute Primal Might" recipe?!?!? Sorry to say, I had to jump all over that 20g.
