Jewelcrafting altFollow

Here is the situation. I just got my alt to 35 and 300 skill. My main is a 70 mage and is ideal for farming just about anywhere. So the question is it profittable to spend the time farming fel iron or should i really be trying to get my alt to 50 so I can prospect Adamantite? (I already have 12 stacks of ore to be prospected...)

You should absolutely move on to adamantite. Fel iron just isn't as desirable an ore to prospect. Not to mention, the run from 300-350 is a really easy one for JC. You just prospect some ore, cut the all of the gems you get and sell them for a small profit. You will actually make money getting to 350, if not a huge sum and adamantite is far more profitable to prospect (as well as allowing you to learn rare cut designs).

You’ll need some fel iron to get through those skill levels. The green gems are common in fel iron, and you'll get them again in adamantite ore. I also find that mote of earth and fire seems to drop in more abundance from fel iron veins, though they can come from all those ores. You’ll need those motes, so save them up. Once you’re at the level for mercurial dust, then you can focus on adamantite. If that requires you to get to level 50, then you’ll need to do that too.

I found Fel Iron to be valuable for only a small window. You will mostly get green gems from Fel Iron. This is good for skill ups but that is it. Green gems sell for about 1-3g each. These are not your major money makers.

Your main goal is to get to 350 so you can cut the blue gems. Blue gems are where the money is. You can sell maybe 2-10 of these a day for 20-60g. You can also skill up on blue gems all the way to 375.

I have not bought any meta gem cuts yet so I can not say how well they sell. If you have an alchemist to create the gems for you, you can probably make a killing.

Thanks, I guess I better get my jewelcrafter up to 50 so I can start getting her skill up again. I was pretty surprised I must have prospected 6-8 stacks of fel iron last night and got 2 blues (dawnstone and a noble topaz) and was pretty happy though I only got a few double procs.
