Transmute vs. ElixirFollow

Hi there. Im currently a lvl 62 rogue and i have alchemy/herbalism. Now, alchemy elixirs always, always brought me money, i used to sell stacks of elixirs of mongoose for 25-30g, and transmuting arcanite brought some cash, too-8g a bar. So im gonna hit lvl 68 soon, and i was wondering if transmutation mastery could bring in more cash than elixirs. I know there's been many threads about this, and some people say that transmute mastery procs very often for them, while others say that it doesnt proc at all. Now, with elixirs, you have a chance of them proccing whenever you make them, while the primal might transmute can only proc once a day. I also know that flasks are elixirs, too, and sell for about the same price as primal might, and are good for raids and whatnot but i'm not sure how the market is going to work for them after the new patch. Then again, not selling herbs and making elixirs can be painful, since most potions/elixirs cost less than their mats. Also, speaking of market, what if demand for primal might drops? and is there any way that you can switch masteries?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

You can now switch Alchemy masteries at the cost of 100g. As for all the other questions though, I have no idea, I don't plan an Alchemist.

Transmute mastery makes a lot of sense if there's not one in your guild already and that guildmates will provide you with a steady stream of mats to transmute. Basically you HAVE to make a transmute every day if you are a master.

The other advantage of transmute mastery is that it's super easy to achieve, just get 4 primal mights (even from AH) and go to Netherstorm and you're done. The other quests are a bit more complicated.

I took transmute mastery because of this and because I knew I could pay 100g to switch at any time. All the masteries are interesting and worthwile, it just depends what you and your guild needs. Also remember that it works on all transmutes, not only primal mights. When you get the recipe to transmute Pimrla Earth to Fire it can also proc several Primal Fire. Also works on diamond transmutes (the diamonds sell for 150-200g on my server).

EDIT: I'm not sure I got that right but I think I've read somewhere that if you switch masteries (i.e. pay 100g) you do not have to retake the quest. I have not checked the difficulty of all the quests, or the costs involved, but maybe it's more efficient to do one of them and pay 100g if that makes a big difference in terms of difficulty or cost.

Guess it all depends on what you really prefer and the prices of items on your server. Primal Might sells for about 10g or so less than the mats, so even with the proc rate, you are lucky to break even. Primal Earth to Primal Water Transmute takes a bit of grinding sporregar rep, but is well worth it. Primal Earth sells for 3g, Water for 20. (on my server) I personally do this transmute daily for personal gain, and only do Might X-mutes when someone else is providing the mats.

Elixir and potion mastery all depend on which ones sell well in relation to the materials cost. As far as the best for profit is concerned, it really all depends on how much homework you do and how much you want to invest.

The point of Primal Might transmute is not to sell the Primal Might, it's to exchange it against mats (which are indeed worth more most of the time), because then you can make extra Primal Mights and in the end it simply means your Transmute Mastery will give extra mats, not extra primal mights :)

For example yesterday I managed to exchange 3 primal mights against 3 sets of mats, and the guy paid me 15g on top of it. Since I got an extra proc when I did these 3 primal mights, it means I started with 2 sets of mats and ended up with 3 sets pf mats and 15g = net gain of 120g.

Potion Master - At first 1 extra potion every 5 made (always only 1 extra), so hardly worth the effort.

Now it has been so long sind I had anything extra, I wonder if the mastery has been disabled in the last patch.

Some really nice information here. I am about to chose, and I have a hard time making up my mind.
