I have looked over the wow 1 and 2 guides for an overview of mining veins. I have an idea where silver is, however I thought I would ask an input from players out there where in your opinions have you seen an abundance of silver veins.

I do circuits of 1k Needles.
silver veins are mixed iron and tin veins and are rare spawns. you are best looking where there are a lot of iron and tin veins...
I've had good luck with thousand needles and charred vale, for silver.
You don't say what level you are. So far, with my level 31 pally, I have found Stonetalon Mountains to be the best I've been to for a fair amount of tin veins, which - as has been said above - occasionally spawn as silver. I saw a mithril vein there once also, but my pally is herb/alch so I couldn't even try to mine it. I have not yet, at my level, seen "abundant silver veins."
I notice these veins because my alt is mining/bs. That alt is a lvl 21 warrior and I was able to get into SM with him without much trouble, but there are areas there that would be a problem if you wander far off the road at that level. Still, I do mine tin, silver, and iron with him there that's close to the road.
If you do go into SM, and you go in through the talondeep path (?), you will need to go southwest to clear that area and then head north when you hit the road to get to Stonetalon Peak where you can grab a FP. Good luck.

TY, at the moment just turned lvl 38. My mining is up to 123. Pretty paltry to my 223 herbalism. Tonite I think I will do a "lap" in Stonetalon. RIght now I am presently running thru thousand needles to finish a quest for the first time so I am zigzagging back and forth to cover the zone. With that being said I'm halfway thru the zone and have yet to see 1 silver vein.

Re; 1k Needles - I think it's just a matter of luck/timing. Some days I will find 3-4 nodes and some days none.

I noticed a good bit in Darkshore, in the area surrounding the Ruins of Mathystra. There is much Tin in that area and Silver seems to spawn a good bit, as it were. I was there on my 18-19 Troll Hunter chasing the cat figurines and was pleasantly surprised to walk out of that zone with a stack of silver ore after a day or two in the zone.

Not exactly. Silver is a rare spawn of tin. You can find it anywhere tin spawns. But yeah, 1k needles is good, or the cave south of Dalaran.
It's important to mine out every tin vein you see. When they respawn they have a chance to respawn as silver instead. Don't just ignore the tin you pass by.
There are also some tin/silver nodes at the very north end of the Barrens where the harpies are.
I don't know if I was just lucky or not, but I was in the Badlands yesterday and came across 3 of them in the space of a half hour.

I've had reasonably good luck finding silver in Rethban mine in Redridge...

I second the Rethban caverns. Another good place is in the wetlands... Thelgen rock. Bring your anti-venom =)

Another really good spot for all my mining characters has been eastern loch modan.
Another place in the wetlands is the place with the blackrock champions almost always a few silver veins in there.
