Tailor and Engineer?Follow

Hi,

I have a level 70 Paladin that I'm bored of, so I've started a mage alt.
Currently she is level 18 and I'm now looking at the professions I want.

I would really like to pick up Tailoring and Engineering, because I find them to be fun, but I keep getting told its not a good idea.

of course I know Engineering will be more expensive without mining to back it up, but my pally is 375 mining and can always either mine for my mage or grind some gold and send it.

so.. do you think I'll be ok with Tailoring and Engineering?

engineering is a little fun, but most of the items are total crap and merely a way to throw away the money from ore tahat you could be saving for your epic mount :P

i've been an eng from 1-70 and recently dropped it for herbalism. i'm generally always around the 5-100g mark. Dropping eng was the best idea ever, i now have 1k g in a few days of farming.

if you are looking for something that is fun, than maybe engineering is for you, but it's novelty wears off fast and you'll realize you just got scammed into a nearly useless profession.

if you want something fun, go alchemy/herbalism - you get stat increasing pots you can share with appreciative groupmates - plus you can make money when needed

if you do go eng, go goblin BOOM! you can still use most of the wacky gnome trinkets, you just cant make them. gnome items often only need to be created once. whereas you can constantly make more bombs as goblin. just get a gnome eng to make you the useless stuff from that school.
