I'm still bouncing around in the low 20's so I have no idea what the end-game ore and plants can go for. Anybody hiding on the forums today that can tell me where the big money ends up? I know at low level mining wins easy (copper vs peacebloom is just a tiny bit off, hehe) but once you get higher...dunno. Thanks in advance for the info.

It depends on the server, prices are always in flux...take note of them and get in on it!

As a miner, when you hit the higher levels you can get rare ores, gems and motes and really rake in the cash (now that everyone is in a scramble to level their JC or trying to get primals).

An herbalist gets the same satisfaction with things like swift thistle, goldthorn, steelbloom, firebloom, lotuses, netherbloom, nightmare vine and mana thistle(big money makers on my server). Not only that, some things like dreaming glory actually give you buffs while you're in the field!

Mining funds 3 expensive professions, herbalism funds one.

Herbs are easier to find, mines are a little more scattered. I was 375 in each in TBC for a while, until I eventually dropped both for tailor/enchanting but I made more off mining. And theres always a chance at a nice blue gem worth 50g/pop. I made a killing selling stacks of adamantite ore.

But now with the upcoming 2.1 patch, mobs will aggro while you're mining. It will make it a pain in the butt to mine, but it should still be worth more (actually even more then now).

maybe you mean, a mob will spawn when you try to mine? because of course, mobs aggro anyway if you're close enough to them, don't they? well either way of thinking it does sound more annoying..every ore vein includes a fight. wasn't that why we wanted to be 70 so that we could avoid some mob fights when we go mining or picking herbs?

It will be an additional pain to gather but it kind of sucks now to be in a level appropriate area and have a 70 come by and ninja all the resources, almost walking through mobs without aggro after you have fought 3 to 4 times to get to a vein or herb.

As just another vote: take mining. The reasons have already been explained.

More mulah.

it means more chance that someone will walk in behind you and take the vein as you're fighting the mob that is nearby.

though in reality, i haven't had this happen that much anyway, even when i was low enough that the mob would attack when i walked near the mob/vein.
