Hello All,
I'm a skinning/LW Shaman and wondering if once I get to 40 and can wear mail if this will be the combo for me. I realise I will be able to craft the Dragonscale Mail set but would I be better off re-training as Mining/BS and going down the Mace speciality and get my armour from pickups?

In my book it is much of a muchness.
With LW you will get 3 pieces of BoP armour at 40-46, another at 65 and 3 more at 70
With BS Mace you will get get a BoP mace at 46, another at 65 and a further at 70.
If you intend on being a DPS shammie then I would seriously consider mace crafting, but if not then LW would seem to be the route.

I'm Hunter with 375 skinning/ 348 (leveling) DS-LW and personally I would stick with the LW. There are several mail sets that you can make that are beneficial to shamans as you level including Blue dragonscale and Draenic Scale. Also with skinning as your other proffesion you make your own mats. BS, JC, Tailor all require leather at one point or another so AH is always open. You'll also get several more armor kits at 335 - 340 that are excellent for twinks and sell quick in AH.

I spec into Resto for raids atm But am building an enhancement set (once we get a few more dependable healers I will be offspeccing for raids)
For DPS stuff I would NOT go maces. Go Axesmithing/Mining until you get your Axe made (level 70)
After that drop mining and pick up leatherworking (I have a 375 skinning alt that helped a ton but you can buy the mats) and then you get the best of both worlds.
Im 375 Axesmith and 336 Leatherworking atm (Started leatherworking yesterday)
Kreltok - 70 Shaman
Grimby - 70 hunter
Area 52 Realm - Horde wins
