Item level for EnchantmentsFollow

#1 May 07 2007 at 7:31 AM Rating: Decent
I have an Illusionary Rod. Although the reguired level to equipe the Rod is 34 my Add On shows that the item level of the Rod is 39. Which is used when Enchanting. I want the Spellpower Enchantment but it requires an level 35 item or high. Any help would be great.....

Thanks

Not to overly sure what exactly you mean but heres my 2cents. First of all, dont worry about what your add on says. If you have the enchant and it says requires lvl 35 or higher, that means that the item that you are trying to enchant must be a lvl 35+ for it to work. I think the reason they did this was so that there wasn't a lvl 19 twink out there with major spellpower destroying everyone who the dot up. Make sense? Add ons are sometimes misleading, jusk like any 3rd party program. If you have the requirements (aka, the proper lvl enchanting rod, the mats and the proper lvl item), it will work just fine. Hope this helps and happy gaming!

The problem is level can mean two different things. Every item has an item level. Some items have a character level. Take the pattern for Icy Chill for example. The item level is 57 (I linked to Thotbott because Alla doesn't show this), but if you look in the AH, the pattern is actually listed as a level 1 item.

I don't know why this was done this way. Maybe someone else does.

Every item has two levels: The level a player needs to equip an item (called "Level") and the level an item needs to be to Disenchant it(called "ItemLevel"). In order to enchant an item that needs to be level 35 or higher, you need to use Level, not ItemLevel. In other words, you cannot use your enchant on something that a level 34 toon can equip.

I'm not so sure that is correct. A friend of mine has a 29 rogue. He got the [wowitem=4119]Hunter Raptor Tunic[/wowitem] from a quest in Stranglethorn Vale. By your statement, he could not get +6 Stats to Chest on this item, because he could equip it at level 29. However, just this past week, a guild enchanter put +6 stats on the tunic. It's Item Level is 43.

Although that particular quest item doesn't have an equip level, so can probably circumvent the +35 Rule.

The quest to get the tunic is most likely a level 35-36 quest ergo the ability to enchant it, (obtained at 28, grey at 44). I have personally experiance quested items that couldn't be enchant (armor kited to be exact) because they were too low level, even though no level was stated on the item.
