Your enchanting will not increase with DE past a certain point. I was pretty certain it was 50, but maybe that changed to 100. After that, the only way to increase your level is to enchant. Enchanting is a money sink, so be prepared for that. The money to be made is in DE. Refer to this thread for more information.

While you are correct that the only way to make Enchanting self-supporting (and VERY VERY lucrative) is through disenchanting, the information in the beginning of that thread is currently obsolete. Once you get to around page 4, the information becomes much better.

Basically what the thread says is to use the "/enchantrix percentless" command to display those items that can be disenchanted for a huge profit.

However, since TBC, enchantrix "percentless" and the alternative "bidbroker" have been disabled. The latter posts in the thread have workarounds to that problem. It's a bit more time-consuming, but possibly even more lucrative since there is no "easy-mode" to disenchanting riches any more. The "I want it without working for it" crowd are weeded out.

If you are looking for skillups then you only need 1 item of each type that you can enchant, just enchant the same item over and over. Sure it burns through mats but if all you care about is skill then thats the fastest/ easiest method.
