I just started playing again after almost two months of hitting city of heroes and I just created a dranei hunter. Just yesterday afternoon before I had to come to work, I made it out of the started island and onto the next one and I met the fishing trainer immediately. She gave me a fishing quest which I completed after having to stabity-stab a few angry murlocks that jumped up out of nowhere, then I got my free pole and lure. I went ahead and started fishing up the river adjascent to the trainer and leveled up to lvl 25 on the free lure. I never remembered fishing to be so easy on my other toons, has Blizz buffed newb fishing ability, or are dranei just gifted in the art of fishing?

Also for you avid WoW anglers out there, a coworker took me and my wife out fishing on the Willamette a couple weeks ago and suffice to say even the way I remeber WoW fishing pwn's real life fishing easily, after nearly four straight hours of floating under a steady mist of Oregon rain, we failed to catch a single squirmy little fishy. When we got home, as I was peeling the drenched clothes off in order to do a well deserved load of laundry, my co-worker phoned to inform me that they had caught their first fish almost immediately after we had left. Fancy that.

Use lures, even if its the cheap ones. It makes a difference. Fishing has never been hard, its just been time consuming.

Fishing is easy. You can get to about level 100 on every catch, starting at newbie fishing location without any lure. After that, you might get a point on every 2 catch. I’m currently around 325 and it takes about 12 successful catches to get a point.

So while fishing has never been hard imo, it just increases the # of times you have to catch before you get a point. Wish there was more to do with the fish though. I’ve raised 3 character’s cooking skills on just 1 fisherman. You can sell some cooked fish later.

I just remember that before the xpac, in order to start out your skill in fishing you needed to mull past numerous lost fish and no skillups until you get that golden few, at which point you would be able to continue skilling up past there with fewer lost fish until reaching the next leveled area.

With this character it seems like catching fish seems easier, I don't know if it's just the Dranei starting zones, or the Xpac in general. I used lures for the first 20 levels or so, then stopped using lures for the most part. I never got a lost fish until I tried fishing in the second Dranei zone, and thats because i didn't keep up with my fishing in the first zone.

All I want to know is did they make it easier for all characters to level fishing from scratch, or did they design the dranei zones with a better chance of catching fish from the start. Either those or my luck has been boosted since I last fished in game.

It is supposed to get even better after the next patch with a couple of major improvements.

First cast channel times are going down from 30-second to 20-seconds.

Second, while you can still loose a fish each cast will get a hit. So no more 30-second waits for nothing.
