Is Fishing worth the time to lvl it?

1. Can you make decent money off it?
2. Do the fich offer good health bounses?
3. Does raw fish (aka not effected by the cooking skill) offer stat boosts?
4. How difficult is it to lvl?

I think that should cover it. =D Thank you for any posts made.

1. If you really grind and get into it yes.
2. no
3. some of them at higher levels
4. very annoying and difficult - its so mindnumbingly boring and unskillful and a waste of time in my opinion I went to 70 without it.

Most don't. Some do. What comes to mind right off the bat are Summer Bass/Winter Squid, Mightfish and Sagefish. All of which offer additional bonuses beyond mere health.

Some do, others must be cooked.

not difficult at all. Skillup is based on the number of fish you catch, not what type of fish or which zones you catch them in. If it wasn't for the fishing quest at level 35, you could go strainght to 300 skill without ever leaving the newbie zone.

There are several good fish that would be quite useful for guilds. I haven't played WOW in quite a while but I did get my fishing to 375.
You can catch Golden Darters for Golden Fish Sticks, healers love those

Furious Crawdads give you spicy Crawdads, nice for tanks

Icefin Bluefish for Poached Bluefish, nice for warlocks and mages

and finally Figluster's Mudfish for Grilled Mudfish, Great agi bonus for hunters and rogues.

Hey Sloniah, I hope you enjoy fishing. Some folks find it too tedious, but I find it to be very rewarding. I supply myself with +44 Healing foods, and my fellow guildmates with +23 Spell Dmg, 8mp5, and +20 Agi foods. Good stuff! Especially with the changes to Alchemy coming in the next patch that limit the # of buffs we can have at once.

I think others have done well answering questions, but please take a moment and check our Trade Skills FAQ =)

Learn to cook, too! You'll catch more than enough to get you and several of your friends to 375 cooking skill. And most fish require no spices to cook (i.e. free skill-ups).

Really. If you fish, you can learn cooking almost free.

Fishing is like another gathering profession. And doing it a little at a time while leveling is the best way to improve it.

i fished up to 250 fishing or so on one char, and just from that, i had plenty to get 3 of my characters to 275 cooking or so. a little more of the right fish, and they all were at 300 cooking easily.

I will concur that the grind is incredibly boring, but it is definitely worth it. As ohmikeghod stated (and will state anytime fishing or DE comes up) there is a ton of money to be had in it. Granted, you won't get money by the bucketfuls, but it is a nice steady stream. It is great to be running along a beach heading to a location you are questing in and hitting the pools that pop. Floating wreckage is almost a guaranteed green or two. You can make some decent coin off of the special fish as well. Eels are going for about 15g a stack on Whisperwind right now. I found that the most convenient time to level fishing was waiting in the BG queue. I went to Darnassus and would queue up and then hop off the platform and fish. It worked great to pass the time while you don't want to get too involved in anything before the BG starts.
