You can look up what each Primal is used in here by using the Search tool.

I recommend you download an addon called Auctioneer and use it to see which Primals sell for the most on your server, but I am pretty sure the answer is Air, Fire, and Mana.

Air are probably the most profitable just because they are the most pain to farm.

Air and fire are both commonly used, and hard to get. The drop rate of fire off of fel iron nodes is not very high, and air motes don't come from anywhere but elementals. They go for at least 20g/primal on most servers, sometimes as high as 25 or 30g.

Water is also commonly used, but it can be obtained through fishing and through transmuting cheap earth primals so the supply is higher and the price is cheaper. It's still pretty good money.

Earth comes from every type of outland mining node, so it is the least expensive at 5g or less a primal. It's not worth the trouble to farm it to most people, but you will at least not have any competition if you decide to farm elementals. I got at least 50 of these primals in the course of skilling up my mining to 375 and farming ore at 70. I got around 8 or fewer fire primals by comparison.

Shadow is pretty cheap, as it comes from demons, and a lot of people farm them for Aldor rep items.

Mana primals come from mana thistle (a rare herbalism node) and arcane-immune mana wraiths and other magic elementals in Netherstorm. I don't know how it compares to water but it's a pretty good living if you're not a mage.

Life primals come from felweed and from killing and herbalising nature elementals and giants in Zangarmarsh. They're a little more valuable than shadow I think.

Primal Might is only available by an alchemy transmute and takes one each of fire, air, earth, water, and mana. It's typically worth the value of the primals that go into it plus about 5-15 gold.

I'd say Fire would be one of the most profittable, since it is used for a LOT of stuff and as Krylanna said, they will be rarely found on anything but Fire elementals, and there are few spots in outland were they can be found (Elemental Plateau which is always crowded, the central part of Shadowmoon valley which is bothersome because of the lava and rock elementals and Blade's Edge always near other mobs).

Air Elementals seem more abundant to me but still they are spread out in a lot of areas so it is not really that quick to farm for them. I as a tailor however, do not seem to have any use for them.

The resto don't seem that hard to get (althought due to the low population of my server water is kind of expensive and mana is real easy to farm).

I am currently kicking my guild's alchemist's asses trying to get them to grind Sporeggar rep for the transmutation recipe dammit >.<

Well thank you all for your advice. From what I have found in the last few days shadow is one of the easiest to grind and gives the most in terms of alternate drops ( Shadowmoon Demons that is) Fire seems to be the money maker,... however takes a while to grind. -Makes sense-
I have yet to find a time worthy grinding component, and remain completely lost as to how the "richy riches" of the game make their dough so quickly.
Regardless I think that from your advice I have found that Fire and Mana are the money making Primals

I'd say wind is one the most profitable because it is used for a few things and is pain in the @$$ to get.

I make a huge killing of primal fires. I skip the plateau and farm in shadowmoon valley. If its fairly empty I can easily farm 5/hour on my lock, and they sell for 35g on my server (sometimes up to 50 o.O)
