Mining and BS leveling as lvl 70Follow

#1 Apr 17 2007 at 4:56 AM Rating: Decent
Hi all.
I have a question that I would like to ask.
I will soon hit level 70 (im 68 now) and when I do I want to take up mining and bs. My previus skills were alch and herb but i didnt like them and eventually ignored them. So i would like to know how and where could i most easily and fastly level mining and bs. as a lvl 70 I suppose I wont have many problems with mobs but where can I find a lot of ore and what is the most effective way of leveling them to max?

Mining is a real pain to start at level 70. You'll have no problem finding the nodes and such, but it takes the longest to level out of all the other gathering profs because the nodes are harder to find and pretty much the only skills up you'll get are from hitting the nodes. I bet you can do it though :) just might take some time...

Use the Search function on this site, look for Copper Vein, Tin Vein etc. It will give you maps of each zone with vein locations. Having an epic riding mount will help you skill up quickly as you'll need to do circuits around each zone. Also remember that many instances have ore veins, for example Uldaman (iron), Maraudon (mithril) and DM East (2-3 Rich Thorium) all offer mining without competition. Blackrock Depths offers a lot of Dark Iron deposits. You can reset an instance and repeat the mining 5 times per hour.

Also get the +5 Mining enchant on your gloves, this will help you greatly in the transition between each ore category. Without it you tend to end up either doing a lot of mining on 'green' veins which rarely give a skill up or having to look for rare minerals (silver, gold, truesilver).

When you hit 300 mining go to Outlands and unlock the next level of mining. However you do not need to stay in Outlands and skill up on Fel Iron, you can continue skilling up on Thorium.

This is a very good guide to blacksmithing http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=13121383&pageNo=1&sid=1#2

If you mine all the ore and stones needed for that guide, you should have got your mining skill all the way up.

As for where to go, Morthandeus speaks the truth. Instances are a very good source because you can reset them whereas doing a tour of a zone may go too quickly for the veins to reset automatically.

Mining isn't that hard to lvl except at the 150ish lvl, and again before you can smelt truesilver(I haven't gotten farther than that yet)

Leveling up mining can be pretty easy if you smelt them all into bars. Smelting gives you skillups, and gives you an easy out for powerleveling. Most of the time the ores sell for the same price as the bars too, so you won't lose any money doing it.

People might say differently, but I would tell you to smelt whatever you can as SOON as you can. Do copper, silver(hardest to find at the AH for me...), gold, mithril, iron, and steel. After you've gotten every tidbit of levels you can from smelting and can't proceed without going out and "tinking" with your pickaxe, go out and find some ores.
