No, it's not. Top-end potions no longer require fish squeezings to make.

Ah friend this is an old world thought! The new cooking recipes offer many a great thing, such as +23 spelldamage, +40 AP, +30 stam, +44 healing, +20 agi and others, which people are very willing to pay for. Many of these cooked goods sell for half a gold to a gold and a half each.

Its pretty decent, not the top #1 money maker (farming the right mobs would be more efficient), but you can only quest/farm mobs for so long. At least I get bored. Fishing is a fun way to unwind for me, and getting a stack of fish that sells for 19 gold is pretty darn nice. And now my fishing is a bit higher, I'm sitting at 356 now hoping to hit 375 in a few more days. So I can finally fish the golden darters effectively, and soon I'll be fishing primal water, and the spell dmg buff fish.

If you hate fishing, I wouldnt bother. If you enjoy it to unwind, its quite profitable at a very high skill level. I'm not sure how this upcoming 2.1 patch will change that, I wonder how many new people will decide to level fishing now?

Cool thanks for the responses!

Just sold a stack of Deviate Fish for 17g! Lucky server I guess :)

Happy hunting, or fishing I should say!

Furious Crawdad's (the 'fish' needed for maxing out the cooking skill) are selling for 30g+ on my server. Wish I could fish them...

Wouldn't worry about it too much. In the upcoming patch, you'll be able to buy an equivalent food from the Skyguard faction at Friendly.

Yeah. That could be true. I never bothered selling the food, though. I'd mail what I couldn't use to guildies at random. Besides, I already made enough gold.

It used to be that no one would even look for food at auction. Has that changed? And, let's face it, getting to the AH is a bother.

it is possible to level cooking to 375 with the 'Hot Buttered Trout' and 'Fishermans Feast' recipes available from Kylie in Worlds End Tavern, Shattrah
it takes a while to fish up the Enormous Feltail and Gill Trout, but heck fishing requires +patience anyway right?
with no flying mount this is the only way to do it, at the moment.

I can make ~80G from a single Tanaris run (fishing only the pools, from North of Steamwheedle port to Southbreak Shore and back again). Most of the gold comes from selling the contents of debris pools, but the fish still sell.
