I am a miner with a 150 mining skill. It has been my experience, especially since this is the thrird toon that has had that profession, that ore tends to sell better than smelted bars. What does everyone else think? I just see no benefit to smelting ore when it sells for much higher prices than the bars.

You get small skill increases in the beginning when smelting copper. Other than that, no real reason. Sell whatever sells best!

With Jewelcrafting, ore is prospectable-basically it is disenchanted to get gems. So these days, ore sells like crazy over the bars, as jewelcrafters generally need a lot more gems than actual bars.

everytime I have a stack of ore, I check the ore price and the bar price and sell whichever is higher. It not only changes from ore to ore but also from day to day. Some days I sell a stack of Mithril ore, others Mithril bars, if they are similar then I just stick with the ore since I'm too lazy to run over and smelt it.

Thats what I thought. Guess I will have to start checking the prices of the bars as well now that I am getting much higher in skill level.
