Leveling SmeltingFollow

#1 Apr 10 2007 at 6:32 AM Rating: Decent
I am a Blood Elf Warlock with mining as a profession. I have paid to get my max up to 150 even though my skill level is only at 68. I only have smelt copper as an ability, however. Where do I learn some of the higher level smelting abilities? I have been to the mining trainers in Orgrimar (sp?) and the Blood Elf capital.

Thanks.

When talking to the trainer, there's an option to toggle display between only things you can learn, things that can't be learned yet, or all of them. Make sure that's set to show things you can learn (green text).

Failing that, you can also check to make sure the abilities aren't "collapsed" -- look for a [-] button in the training window to see if that's the case.

Beyond copper you really don't get many mining skillups through smelting, you get most, if not all points from actually mining.

Ummmm....
Smelting Silver, and gold, as well as Dark Iron, can provide cirtical boosts when arround the changeover points(although I have to agree with Dilbert, overall the real points come from mining). For example, smelting silver is a good way to round out the Tin Hunt....

Keep mining at those yellows and greens until they become gray. That's what i did so far.

Even when they are grey, they can still be profitable. If you see a vein, whether it's copper, truesilver or dark iron, mine it - unless you're 50+ (levels, not skills) it's going to be more profitable than vendor trash.

Id like to know when I can start minding somethign besides copper and rough stones? My skill is 82ish and no matter where I seem to go all I find are copper veins. I have went into the lvl 10+ zones looking and its still copper. IS there different veins I have to find or does it come out of the same with enough skill?

Diffrent zones have diffrent nodes for diffrent ore, the next one you will see is Tin. I am not sure where you like to play, but the Northern and southern Barrens has tin. Keep in mind Bliz was SUPER DUPER nice to you (and all of us) by dotting the landscape with copper, thats the last time mining is "Eazy" (belive you me there are far more difficult trades). As the skill level requirements go up, the stuff gets harder and harder to find, heck sometimes you will see 2 nodes stacked on top of each other for copper, by the time you get to Iron, I would not count on ever seeing that. The fuarther you get the more difficult it becomes. such is the way of WoW.
