Hi guys! I have a level 70 Night Elf Warrior which I recently picked Blacksmithing up on, because I wanted to be able to make some of the great weapons I've seen for level 70. I already know I'm going to pick Weaponsmithing, but I can't decide which branch, Sword, Hammer or Axesmith? If you know which weapons come from what I'd love to see a few. Please help me choose here!

Thanks in advance!

ill list the first-tier verions of the 1h and 2h weapons for you. you can look them up easily using the item lookup feature on the left menu:

sword - 2h = lionheart blade, 1h = fireguard. lionheart has agi/str and some fear resist but lowest top-end damage of all the 2h weapons, while the fireguard has agi/stam, hit rating, and is quite fast (making it a good OH fury or tank sword).

mace - 2h = thunder, 1h = drakefist hammer. thunder has lots of stats, including 54 stam, and the highest top-end damage of the 2h weapons. drakefist hammer is a big slow mainhand 1h with a 200 haste rating proc (~16% haste @70). drakefist hammer is an awesome rogue sinister strike weapon and a killer fury MH.

axe - 2h = lunar crescent, 1h = black planar edge. the lunar crescent has no raw stats, but lots of crit rating and attack power (more AP/crit than the lionheart or thunder have), as well as being slightly above the sword in damage, and slightly under the mace. the 1h is basically a smaller version of the 2h, with lots if crit/ap (for a 1h) but no raw stats. both the black planar edge and the drakefist hammer have identical speeds and damage ranges.

differences in the 2h weapons:

sword - highest potential burst damage due to sword spec, level 2 version of the sword has a 150 str proc, no stam, less crit than axe, proc effect from sword spec can proc off of things axe spec does not affect, or barely affects (e.g. pummel, rend, sunder armor).

mace - highest base damage of all the weapons, unique effect of mace spec, mace spec has a high chance to proc with the thunder line (~11% per hit), less crit than axe, less AP than axe/sword, proc effect from mace spec can proc off of things axe spec does not affect or barely affects.

axe - second highest base damage, highest crit with axe spec, great synergy with flurry, no stam or raw stats to speak of (hence, not affected by blessing of kings), less potential burst than sword, axe spec doesnt help with some skills such as sunder armor or rend, or affects certain skills less (pummel, hamstring).

Hey I think I might have a solution to your problem. If specced in arms then you have the chance of getting an extra attack with swords or a chance to get rage and stun the enemy. I will be going mace smith because of the stunning and also the Stormherald has some of the best stats for a 2handed mace in the game. Till better ones come out. It Also has the chance to stun so cool double the chances to stun and great stats. If you are looking for some DPS or some duelwielding things then still go mace smith.

There is the Dragonstrike weapon which rocks because of the chance on hit to increase attack speed rating by 200. It also has +16 stamina.

Below are the links to both weapons

Dragonstrike:

And the StormHerald:

The problem is that each of those above weapons need the beginning weapons that you upgrade and you also need to get 20 Nethervorexes which have 100% chance to drop off 25-man raid last boss. Sill only 2% to drop off the other non-last bosses.

I really hope this helps you
