Illusion Dust and Eternal EssenceFollow

A large portion of my enchanting materials have been produced by DE'ing crafted items. I have a 300 Tailor and 350 LW and between the two I've never had much trouble getting all the dust and essence I could want.

But now I'm in the home stretch for 300 on my enchanter, and I'm finding the materials difficult to come by. Illusion Dust and Eternal Essence comes from items in the 50-60 lvl range. Crafted items at this range are a pain to make because they were designed as near endgame items and thus require non-typical materials.

Does anyone know of any crafted items that consistently produce Eternal essence? Preferably stuff tha tdoesn't require ironweb spider silk, exotic leathers, or any other difficult to farm mats?

15 points away from 300 and I'll be back in cruise control. I'm just not willing to spend 250g at the AH to get from 285 to 300.

I believe it's recommended to make Runecloth Headbands to DE for both the dust and essence.

Runic and wicked leather headbands/belts might work for you. They require lots of runecloth and rugged leather to make but no pain in the butt ingredients. I'd also suggest getting into the habit of checking the auction for cheap greens to blow up.

What level are you?

My recommendation, if you are high enough, hopefully you have some friends you play with, ask them to run either Strat or Scholo a few times and allow you to DE everything that isn't needed. Sure it takes some time from them but, if they help you, i'm sure you provide them with enchants.

Surely, the easiest way to find green stuff for illusion dusts and eternal essences is the AH. I found so much of the stuff that I have to resell the mats back to the AH. I scan the level 56-60 items, FYI. With some much lovely outland greens out there, the old world greens are listed at dirt cheap prices and no one wants them. I usually win most of my bids. Give the AH a try and forget about the crafting.

Not so easy anymore. I've actually had a very tough time finding pre-BC greens on AH recently. Now that the majority of people run to the Outlands once they hit 58, much of the green drops that produce Illusion Dust and Eternal Essence aren't being found and getting posted to AH. Out of 100 level 56-60 Weapons, less than 5 will be pre-BC. All the others are drops from the outlands, that DE to Arcane Dust and Planar Essence. Sure the pre-BC stuff is often pretty cheap, but I also have to fight all the other enchanters looking for the items as well :) Manon has the right idea, find a few high level guilies and tear through Scholo or Strat to harvest drops.

A Greater Eternal Essence will sell for between 10-15g on my server, Illusion Dust for about 1.5-2g each and the Arcanite Rod we need at 300, is well over 50g. Going to be VERY expensive to get from 286 to 300. Once at 300 though I have almost 100 Arcane Dust and about 40 Greater Planar Essence and there is always a ton of cheap items on AH that can be DE. All of which will help getting from 300 to 375 cheaper and easier.

Here is an updated Enchanting leveling guide. From 1-300 it's the same as all the others that you will find, but at the bottom it has the steps to get from 300 to 375.

Must be server difference. I'm on a new less-than-6-months server, where arcanite rods and mooncloths still sell. Though it bewilders me why anyone will make stuff from mooncloths since I'm pretty sure outland greens are better. Anyway, I get at least 30% old world greens in the level 56-60 bracket. Greater eternal essences go for 6g or less, and the illusion dust is about 1.3-1.4g. That's what I sell them at. I'm level 298 in enchanting now, arcanite rod made, and still has 30 illusion dusts, 10 greater eternal essences, and some lesser eternal essences left. (This is the max stack I keep before putting them on the AH).

By the way, thanks for the link to the updated guide. I now know I need to keep enough old world mats till level 305. I should also start looking for the fel iron rod too. That's annoying since I just forked out 35g for the arcanite rod, and it lasted only 10 levels.

mooncloth -> for the bags. the boe netherweave bags are good for cash, but mooncloth bags can still be transferred to alts after they've been replaced.

I've found much the same problems getting enchant mats. Mostly I grab the old world ones that drop GEE and Illusion dust as they sell so well. I've found that spending an hour in DM, BRD or BRS can net me a 100g worth of mats in simple drops. Maybe farm for a bit when the AH is lean, and you'll get through dry spell.

2 upper lvl characters can duo either one. Did live strat and scholo with my rogue (66 at the time) and my brothers shaman (lvl 70) only died once to a very bad pull. Walked away with around 200g in mats and loot.

I actually recently asked one of our guild enchanters about this - I have a DE alt that can DE items up to level 63 and I'd like to power level him to 275 enchanting so he can take care of the higher end gear also. I've been told that runecloth belts are a pretty good source of greater eternal essences. My advice would be to either go to tyrs hand to farm, or hit up something like BRD that you can solo. The combination of green drops and runecloth that you can make into higher level greens should be a good supply. Additionally, if you can solo the bosses, there's a good source of large brilliant shards. I know that on my rogue, even with a sub optimal spec for boss farming (combat mutilate at the time), I could kill the last boss in LBRS - and I could kill a few of the bosses in BRD at 60.... and could duo everything up to drakk in UBRS with another 70 rogue. Stealth farming really is FTW... wish my rogue was an enchanter... I would be making a killing on shards :/
