You are in the right direction,,,,selling herbs is the way to go. Keep Alch to make pots for yourself and guildies,,but sell herbs!! Stealth is your friend for getting to the flowers that have a mob in front of them.

Enchanting use to be the way to go,,,,stealth in to Boss,,dis drops,, sell matts, but now you have to level Enchanting up to continue disenchanting higher level items.

I would have to agree with Lexxsyn. Herbalism plus Alchemy has done well for me with my first character, a rogue. Granted, you do not make much initially, but once you can pick Briarthorn/Mageroyal on up it can help out quite a bit.

Plus you have certain advantages as a rogue. You can collect your own swiftthistle (from Briarthorn and Mageroyal) if you would care to brew (cook) your own thistle tea (+100 Energy, instantly). I have not used tea too much but I have always sold it since most rogues do not pick up herbalism. Also, fadeleaf (makes blinding powder 34+ skill) is great for yourself or others. You can pick up your own blinding powder from pickpocketing but picking your own fadleaf is another avenue for this as well.

I never had a problem making gold and bought my mount with a little to spare at lvl 40. I'm at lvl 53 now with at least 300g sitting in the bank. (Ghost Mushroom gold FTW).

Also with alchemy, do not forget to pick up fishing for your own pots, and might as well pick up cooking for all the other fish since it does speed up your own grinding when you can replenish your own health. And, while you are at it, you should definately also do first aid with all the cloth that drops from your kills.

Hope that helps!

IMO, Skinning doesn't make all that much money until Outlands. Even Thick leathers aren't that expensive on the AH.

Meanwhile, some of those Herbs go for an insane amount of money. Grave Moss, Swiftthistle, and Stranglekelp all go for a good amount of money, and those are only the tip of the iceberg. I've seen Fadeleaf going for a good bit too.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Mining+Herbalism would beat Mining+Skinning anyday. Skinning is far too common, as every skinnable mob usually will give you skins, and there are a LOT of skinnable mobs in WoW, hence the leathers are usually in abundance.

Problem with two "tracker" gathering professions is you can only have one tracker active at the time.

Skinning is a great second gathering profession because a) no tracker required and b) there are always mobs made of leather around.

What skinning provides is regular money. It scales with level fairly well, and there are always mobs to skin. Leather is not expensive, but you can farm a lot of it in a short time. Skinning is a "quantity, not quality" trade skill.
