Looking for a program to make a pvp video with that's free.

Friend down the hall has an editing program, so that's no problem. Just need something to capture video.

rather than stealing fraps, you could just use the demo version and if you like it you could regester it.

I have worked for too meny software companies that went out of biz due to piracy, it takes a lot of work to get somethign out there, those folks deserve to be payed.

The demo to Fraps works very nicely. I'd suggest Fraps.

I think the demo to fraps limits you to 30 seconds of filming. There used to be a program called Camstudio that was freeware. However the person that made it required you to sign up for it and then they would e-mail you the cd-key to unlock it. Problem is when you fill that information out you don't receive the cd-key making it 100% useless.

Check out this Wikipedia list of video capturing programs. I tend to like FRAPS the best followed by SnagIt, but I only use SnagIt for my screenshots, FRAPS is pretty much designed to work well with taking game footage and is by far the smoothest that I've tried.

I use Game Cam. It doesn't have a time limit, but may be a pain if you want audio (IIRC, the free version doesn't support sound). You can always throw in music for background noise later.

Fraps is good (even the demo) as long as you tell it to record at high quality graphics. hypercam 2 is a free download and is also a good alternative (it doesn't limit you to 30 seconds) but may cause your computer to lag more when recording.
