Ditto.

Alliance needs a little extra help because they aren't as bright as Horde.

Shadowmeld is a brutal defensive ability, giving a good NE player a wonderful chance to strike first.

Ummm, wtf? How the heck is that supposed to happen? If someone sees us and we shadowmeld, wow, big deal, they'll just move to the place that we were in and do some aoe and get us out. If in combat shadowmeld doesn't do anything. And right before combat it is useless too. The ONLY thing Shadowmeld is good for, is turning it on when you have to go AFK. Or Drink + Shadowmeld so you will be able to safely drink your mana back.

Seriously, "Shadowmeld is a brutal defensive ability", how did you come up with this? -_-

Not trying to flame here, it's just that what you said makes no sense at all. Please explain what you meant in detail.

Well, just an example here... Let's look at one of my previous experiences in AV before I decided that PvP was a load of crap and ceased it altogether.

Tower gets assaulted. I go to tower in stealth mode (Druid). I get to the top, no sign of the attacker. I go to recap the tower... but just then, I spot the Shadowmelded Fury Warrior, and she attacks before I can defend myself. Now, I'm a Balance Druid at the top of a tower, and this means I can't root and nuke (plus there's that ANNOYING Warrior talent that makes them immune to rooting (I forget what it's called, but I hate it with every bit of my being)).

Had I gotten the first shot off, I would've won (I got her down PRETTY low (yes, it was a female; big surprise there...)), but Shadowmeld gave her the first shot, and it made the difference.

Edit: One day, I will spot the typo BEFORE I submit the post...

alright, I read about 3/4 of the thread and now I am deciding to chime in. I play 3 characters mainly-Troll/hunter, Blood elf/mage, Draenei/shaman. now the differences I have noticed so far(I only started playing about a month ago myself, though I have been with the series of strategy games since one and an active rp player since I was little, so I figured what to expect), is transportation; horde has a lot easier time transporting, tried to get my draenei to stormwind to do west fall when she became lvl ten, spent multiple hours running it(menthil to loch mor was the hardest part of it). Another difference I have noticed is that the hordes variety in mood settings is vastly different where as the alliance has more thematic towards one setting(but many variations of this setting, this is just the roleplayer in me that cares, not sure that anyone else does). Now I play the horde more, mainly because the players in the area seem to be more enjoyable to me(no random naked dance parties, and alot less of the "look at me i'm seeking attention" attitude) I mean no offense to alliance players, but it just seems like the horde at my level take the game more like an rp rather than just an online game. I noticed the problems with the booty bay ah myself, personally I would love to get some of the alliance based weapons for my troll, but that wont happen until my shammy is higher lvl. I am planning on holding on to some ally stuff for my troll, and just pray it doesnt get eaten in the booty bay ah when I try to auction it to my troll.

Well that was a bit more long winded than i intended so I will just leave it there for now

lol wow havent checked this thread for ages. Seems to be going well though. Just as a quick heads up to everyone I didn't flame anyone and wasn't picking a fight or ********* was merely pointing something out that others may not have noticed and asking what other people had observed. If ya don't like fishing and cooking then thats fine, personally I like it as I enjoy the +Sta and +Spr you get from some of the food and I like to just take a couple of minutes out to do a sopt of fishing sometimes. Its to each their own right.

Sorry that some people have taken this all a bit personal but there's been some really decent input from others so thanks to those people.

By the way, fair play on the SM comments about it being horde, I hadn't yet been to it but had read threads about how it considered to be the best Instance and everyone heads for it at some point.

Anyways thanks to everyone for their comments and just remember: its a game, its just there for fun and if it isn't balanced then enjoy that as it making the game more of a challenge.

Borkin knows what I am talking about.
I "come up" with that after getting charged/aim shotted and even holy fired or mind blasted out of thin air. And even if people see you stealth, not every class has a distance AoE attack they can use to get you before you get them.
We all know what a big advantage getting the "jump" on an enemy can give, if you have not figured out how to effectively use your racial to do this it is sure not my problem, or the racials problem for that matter.
[yeah, you alliance should seriously learn to minimally use your racials before you complain they are a crap compared to others]

And about SM, the thing is it is not one but FOUR instances, all of them of the similar level range, and that is exactly why there are so many nice things people want in there.

Sure there are small imbalances but that only makes sense, and whenever you filled pissed because "those guys in horde/alliance get this cool and useful xxxxxx" you should know that there will sure be another thing at some point where your faction gets something better off than them, and thats that.

Look at what Ally and Horde represent.

Ally- Sophistication______________Horde- savagry
____ More Intellegent __________________brute strength
_____conquest _______________________ feasting
_____spreading education ______________ spreading "democracy"
__________________________________________(just like the president!)
_____twinkage _______________________ twinkage

For years the game WOW has been Allys vs. they had what, 3 games before they moved online? the allys are bliz's children who were in an epic sruggle with the evils of the horde. if ally has a slight edge, deal with it. Horde isnt about being a whiny lil murlok. Horde is about honor and strength.

As a response to that, one thing that is very well written into the game is the fact that, though they both see the other as the enemy(even with a common enemy), they both have bonds though very loose and both are in their own way the good guy and other ways the bad guy. The only villians truly in the game are the ones that no one can choose. Even if you go back through the history of warcraft, in the first two it was decided that the orcs were being controlled(or maybe there is a better way to put it)by the evil that is the burning legion, even then, when 3 finally came out, it was put out that the scourge and the burning legion were the real villians in all of this. It was an orc ending at the end not an ally. But truth be there are no real "bad guys" to play.

Another comparison would be klingons to federation if you would

Ok then, let's take a look at the PvP advantages of the alliance zones..I'm talkin about goldshire, astranaar..those kinda places. Ever notice all the 68 non-elite guards that swarm the damn place when some on puts a toe over the city limit? Not to mention all the little kiddies that spam the local defense channel when they even see a tuft of tauren fuzz.

And what do we get in say..TM? a platoon of 55 non-elites that are too scattered to provide any defense unless you run right through it! I mean come on! I'm tired of having to ride out all the way from STV to TM because there are three 70's that are leveling the place..and yet we can't even take goldshire because there are so many allies that we can't even see through the yellow!

totally unbiased, right? ok, maybe not on my part..but still, you have to wonder.

/end rant

just to give you a heads up. SM. you take 12-18 min for 1 person to reach there from southshore. as the other person said, just run past sfk or swim.

Uldamine. you have to run from alterac. takes 28-40+ min to run there. you run south through wetlands, then loch mordan, then there. will definately want to check out the flight path there if you ever have the chance pre 40. it's only one instance and one of the quest chains you have to go in roughly 2-3 times to get all the gems for the necklace.

lowbe travelling to differnt starting locations.... does the deeprun train mean anything to you? thunder buff to undercity runs through barrens then take the airship. darkshore to stormwind runs through wetlands. and loch mordan + dwarf starting place, + deeprun train. pre teens I'd say forget it. after 14 or so it's easy just follow the road.

recipies... emm beer blasted pork ribs is not an allied only recipe? or crunchy crab sticks? (spider legs)

Territories. The only hord controlled territories are.
1. starting locations,
2. silverpine forest.

all others I've seen allied rush up and gank lowbies before so I don't really consider them hord controlled.

1. Most blizz stuff looks more Human than Orcish... (Probably)
2. Birds of the same feather flock together...
3. Orcs do not decorate where they live; if they do, they might as well build a castle, a moat, some watchtowers and rear a sewer beast while at it...
