Enchanting your alt questionFollow

#1 Mar 12 2007 at 10:05 AM Rating: Default
Was thinking of making an alt to enchant but then it occurred to me that this doesn't really help my main or any other character I might want to level later. Is my assumption correct? I mean, I cant send my alt a soulbound item for him to enchant then send it back right? Is there a way around this? Thanks for the help!

Nope, soulbound items obviously cannot be sent back and forth. They also cannot be disenchanted by anyone else than yourself.

You do have a few options though.

If you take up enchanting on an alt and use him for only that, you'll undoubtedly have some enchanting supplies on him that you can give to a friend who enchants so that he can in turn enchant your piece. In any case, I wouldn't recommend it on anyone else than someone you trust wholeheartedly, as they could just take your supplies and run.

Still, any item that your main buys off the AH can be sent to your alt to be enchanted, then sent back to your main. If you decide to do this, keep in mind to buy your equips before you need them, since you need at least 2 hours(approx) in sending the equip both ways.

What I love about having an enchanting alt above all else is that I can simply send any uneeded greens his way that I pick up and not have to look at them anymore. It's quick and painless. After a few days, I can go check my alt and disenchant all those items at once.

Lastly, it helps your main a ton if you can make him money. : )

I see... Then if I should decide to still do enchanting on an alt, it should just be for gold making and enchanting any non-soulbound item's I might want to wear? Also, whats the minimum level I need to get him to? You see, as of right now, I have an alt that just sits at the AH and sells all my items, skins and bars that my main finds. Will he have to leave the AH? Can my main buy the high level enchants from the vendor in that dungeon or whatever it is and just send them to him or are those soulbound? (guessing they are soulbound)

You won't get far without lvling your character. You'll only be able to get your skill to a certain point. In turn, you won't be able to disenchant high lvl items to get the top end materials. Ideally you should take him to at least lvl 35. That allows you to skill up to 300 enchanting.

If you have the expansion, you no longer need to bother with the trainer that is in the dungeon. You can just pay a mage to port you to Shattrath City where there is a trainer on the scryers tier.

Some enchanting patterns can be bought but most are trained.
