Trouble.. Please Offer Some Advice!Follow

I am starting to level my alt and decided to take up a profession this time, as I've never done one on my other character.

So, I was really looking forward to doing Alchemy. But, now it seems like the only thing it's good for is raids. I love raiding, but I love PvP too. Since no potions can be used in the Arena, that takes out like 70% of my reason to even take this profession. BGs are pointless to waste potions in.

Any reason to take Alchemy now? What professions are good for both Arena and Raids?

well do you need money?

since your main character doesn't have any professions how is he/she doing on the money side of things? I recommend picking up mining/herbalism and skinning. and sell everything that you farm. You will end up with plenty of money to be able to afford any potions or whatever you would want.

Good for both arena and raids? I guess you can try jewelcrafting as you can make trinkets, etc that or enchanting, but both of these will be pretty large money sinks (like most crafting professions).

My RL friend is an Alchemist, so I can get potions for the low-low from him. Basically free if I have the mats. Even if I'm short on mats, I can get something for free if it's not expensive.

And my sister is an Enchanter, so I get Enchants for free. Sometimes I don't even need mats if her bank is already full of them.

The gathering professions is a good idea. I tried that on my other alt but I never got to see how it did at higher levels (stopped him at 40 out of boredom with the class).

So, I've got the choice from mining, herbalism, skinning, disenchanting, and prospecting.

I see that maybe mining + prospecting could lead to some nice rewards, plus I can always grab some jewelcrafting patterns along the way.

I've always been more fond of herbalism over mining though. And skinning is quite a bit easier than the other 4 options.

Anyways, I have time to decide later. Thanks for the tips Anobix
