I was previously oblivious to what you could get with fishing. I had thought that you could only get fish for cooking with it, so i never took it up.
I am now enlightened and found out that oyu can occasionally fish up crates and such. =D
What level of fishing does it take you to get your first crate/box/chest/etc.?

Yes, fishing is a great 2nd if you know what is going on. Scroll through some of the past posts and you will see numerous postings about fishing and what it can do for you.
Somewhere on the forums there are several links that will explain a lot and are very helpful.
As far as what lvl, not sure as to the exact lvl but I was around 150+ when I started fishing trunks. When hit around 180+ could fish in floating wreckage. Lvling up in fishing is very easy you just have to dedicate a few mins every night and before you know it you will be up there. There are several +buffs that fishing suppliers carry that give anywhere from +5 to +75. So buy one and use if you want to be high enough to get the "money" fish. Spend a lot of time at the Oasis' in the Barrens. Really easy to lvl up there, plus there are plenty of nice things to catch to start.

I was L5 on my first toon when I caught a bloated smallfish in the pool behind Goldshire. I opened it (click to poen) and it held a gem.

Bliz got rid of Bloated fish a while back. You can find trunks by fishing debris and wreckage at almost any fishing level. What is important about fishing skill level is WHERE you can fish. This past weekend I fished 3 trunks out of the harbor in Darkshore with a fishing skill of under 50. The contents of the trunks will vary by zone and of course you can't fish the higher level zones until you have the min. skill.
