Leatherworking Specialization in TBCFollow

#1 Mar 07 2007 at 9:14 AM Rating: Decent
Question. I noticed on several of the epic BoP's in LeatherWorking say 'Requires Elemental/Dragonscale/etc. Specialization' or something close to that.

I thought WoW did away with the specialization in LW. Am i Wrong?

Also, if we do have to Pick a Specialization in 300+ LW, I've already picked elemental when i was 225LW. I'm now 347LW. Do I get to pick a Specialization or do i have to Stick with elemental?

I could be wrong but I believe that they dropped the specialization for the patterns in Azeroth only. They still have the 3 different trees in Outland. I dropped my LW when the expansion came out so it may have changed. I also believe that you can just unlearn one of the three if you don't want it now instead of starting your LW all over.

It used to be that once you selected Dragonscale/Elemental/Tribal, you couldn't go back and change it even if you dropped LW altogether, when you learned it again you would still be whatever one you selected. But I think now they dropped the specialization on a lot of the patterns, but there are a few that require certain ones now though, mostly lvl 350+ LW skill things. But you can change which one you are now, I think. I may be wrong though so don't blame me if it is >_>

Hmmmm.... Thanks for the input. It helps a lot.

Now, the big question... anyone else out there know when and where to change/pick a specialization?

Just find your faction's trainer (ex. Alliance Dragonscale trainer is in Azshara) and he will have an option to drop it. I am guessing that the next thing you do is find the trainer you want to specialize in and then complete the quest.

Dang . Just about to do the quests for the Wild leather working . I had read on a post some where that these are the pre-req's for the specialazation leather workin' ... it also had a break down of the pro's and con's of each of the types of specialised leather workin ' ... Dragonscale , Elemental and Tribal , I believe ... What I was interested in was taking another look at that break down or something similar ... Reason being , a fellow guildie( and my brother )is a rogue and I have been making his armor for he and my self for a while now but as I am no longer wearing leather ( mail now ) I feel that I would want to gear my leather working toward creating goods that would still benefit his charachter ... so wich rout should I take ? ... didn't really want to re-hash stuff but , I've looked for that post and just can't find info on it right now ...

The only thing that has changed is that they removed specialization from all (?) old patterns. New patterns still have specialization.

Also, they added the possibility to chage your specialization (requires dropping and relearning LW from 0)

, So I finnished the wild leather quests and man if it wasn't a grind/farm fest . Next thing is the specialization and where to go for that ... I am happy that my lw is up to 265 . Had to bring it up from 150 the last couple weeks . But do I have to be a certain level to start spec. lw ? and I have no clue where to go for the spec training either ...

Keep in mind, that all the specializations now are only good for your own armor - all the specialized recipes are BoP.
