Herbalism or same old mining ?Follow

#1 Mar 02 2007 at 10:24 PM Rating: Decent
Ok guys my main is a miner/enchanter and makes lots of money with those 2 professions but my account got hijacked and now i am playing a new alt with no money , i dont feel like taking the same 2 professions again.

So i decided to get a herbalism along with skinning , i know skinning but really unsure how herbalism works. I would like a gathering profession that would bring me money right from the start, not talking about 50 gold a day (god i miss those times) but something with decent and steady profit.
What u all think ?

skin/herb is the way to go. you'll get steady income for sure, with all the leather you'll be getting just offa leveling. and herbs will be OK for u, although slower to level, but since u'll be running around doing quests you'll have a lot of opportunity to gather herb. im level 56 and im 300/300 skin/herb, and its really good, not uber money but when you get like 5 stacks of rugged leather and they sell for 4.5G's each, that isnt bad, especially when ur just leveling, and plus the occasional dreamfoil/silversage that brings another 25-30G occasionally, and black lotus which if ur lucky to find are 10G/pop. all in all its great :)

I'm at 375 mining and herb, it's really just free money especially when your grinding in certain areas.

I have no idea if this is average, if it's above or below what other trades bring in, but in about 1-2 hours I can sell off 50g in vendor crap, at least 50g-100g in mining junk, and easily at amount in herbs alone, in outlands. If you find the right areas at higher levels, you can actually do both at once in the same area, hence why it's free money. You either make non-stop gold from kills, gathering, mining, or skinning if you prefer. And while your grinding, buy the best gear you can with gathering professions. The faster you kill, the more money you make in addition to gathering, and since your already grinding, I consider it free money.

But as mentioned, no idea how it rates to other trades. Other trades might make that total in one item created with the right recipe. I think 2 gathering professions are money in the bank without the headache of the huge overhead.

I do know that my alt is a few levels shy of outlands, and I'll be taking the 3rd gathering profession left for me to 375, and one actual trade itself up.
