Some history first:
In my wisdom I thought I had plenty of cash at level 30 so I dropped herbalism and took up enchanting.
Once I reached 150 enchanting I grabbed a minor beastslayer enchant and started starting selling these for 1g50s a piece.
I am now level 33 and have reached enchanting 205 pretty easily, need to get my truesilver rod before I can go further.
I was buying greens/blues from the AH and running DM and WC for things to D/E, this gave me plenty of money to level my skills along with the money from selling glow enchants.
I've realised that it's taken up a lot of my cash, so I'm sitting at level 33 now with ~25 gold.
Just recently something has changed in the economy and now enchant mats have gone down almost 70% in price and there seems to be 1 million and one enchanters now competing with me.
I want to get my mount as soon as I ding 40 so I'll need to be saving pretty soon.
I also know that I need to go to Uldman to get up past 225 which I guess you need to do to make decent profit (not many seem to offer high enchants).
Uldman is going to be very tricky to get to until after 40 so I feel like I'm stuck in a hole.
The question is, should I cut my losses and pick up another gathering profession?
I guess if I do I can keep my rods in the bank if I want to pick it back up.
I was thinking mining cause I seem to pass by tin and silver a lot lately, also I notice the price of stacks of ores is over 2g atm.
Will it be easy to get back upto enchanting 225 when I can cope with Uldman (45+) solo?
Will I be able to get enough for my mount by the time I hit 40 with only one gathering profession and much less gold from D/E?
Any advise appreciated.
