I am looking for a good place to mine low level ores and higher level ores. At the moment I do not have the expansions, so it does have to be Kalimdor or the Eastern Kingomds. If anyone has any good advice as to where some great farming locations are please let me know.
What level mining are you at? Low level ores are found in all the starting areas, i have found the barrens to be pretty badass for copper and tin. Elwynn forest also if your allinace, but there is no tin there you would have to go to westfall or redridge.
High level ore... There is a good farming spot in Arathi where the nodes respawn every 15 minutes, its right behind stormgarde keep through that little canyon. Thorium: best place i have seen is in the hives of Silithus, also winterspring and EPL.
P.S. There is a map at the bottom left of this page to show you where possible nodes spawn for each mineral. Hope that helps

I have found Stonetalon, Thousand Needles, and Desolace to be good mining zones if you are high enough level to survive there. All of these zones have a good variety of ores ranging from copper through mithril (and truesilver). I'm sure there are similar good zones in the Eastern Kingdoms and would suggest the ones with creatures ranging from around 20-40 to get ore from copper up to mithril.
Just use the search box at the left - type in the ore you want, and click on the regions where it is found to get a map of all the node locations. Then find a place you are comfortable mining and have fun.
www.mapwow.com has an interactive map where you can choose to show ore nodes for the entire world. Helps you plan routes for farming ore.
My favorite pre-bc mining run is Azshara. Start at the FP (alliance) and head straight north along the river. When you hit the mountains just follow them east and north all the way around to the northeastern limit of the furbolg area then head south to the ghost town area.
Loads of Mithril and usually a good amount of Thorium, and the area isn't crowded.
Bonus for this run is there are at least 7 chest spawns along the way!
