The Flood of DE MaterialsFollow

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but it appears that everyone on my server has decided to take up disenchanting as their source of income.

There's a such a flood of enchanting materials out there that things are selling slow and prices are dropping fast.

I mostly stick to the items that I actually loot and crafted items from my alt characters for my mats ( I don't bother with Auctioneer buying/DEing)but I've reached a point where I think I have more than I can ever expect to sell.

Anyone else seeing the market declining on their server?

Nope. On my server the price of the enchanting materials is still high and the actual green items themselves are much lower. Of course, I'm not selling mine anyway. I'm sitting on them as my enchanting is sort of stuck at 340. Oy.

Hmm. The supply just seems to have greatly exceeded demand on my server.

My stuff is never the highest priced on the AH, yet I can go several days at a time selling nothing. Meanwhile I continue to accumulate, and I'm beginning to think I'll never be rid of it all.

When there's 15 stacks of Dream dust on a daily basis, stuff just doesn't move.

Well, I'm at 225 enchanting, but I'm completely broke. Everytime I do an instance run I end up with like 1 item (my rolling has sucked lately) and I'm just getting no drops.

So I decided that at level 225 I could go without the lower level dusts and essences, and took solice in the fact that when I was leveling a stack of strange dust could go for at least 5g. So I hit the AH, and find exactly what you're talking about. At least 20 stacks of dust and magic essences going for < 50s a peice. :( I'm haning onto them for now, hoping that this flood will eventually subside. But until then my Main has like 1.2g and my alt < 1g :( I'm as broke as a car parked on a redneck's lawn. I've been farming welps in the badlands hoping for a welpling drop, but no luck yet. Oh well.

My server has soo much more supply than demand yet the prices for the mats are still way overpriced... You would think the disenchanters would have better business sense.

In my experience, the price on such mats fluctuates so much anyways.

two things at work here:

1. Greed. If they were selling it for 4g two weeks ago, they aren't going to accept that teh price should drop just because there's a lot out there. No deposit on enchanting mats allows them to be stubborn

2. Profit margin. If they are buying items off the AH to DE based on getting a particular return on the mats, a big drop in price will make them lose money.

If you all stopped making these damn posts telling everyone how to do it and then complaining, maybe the buyers wouldn't note this and lower their buy amount, ... , ...

On my server it seems that prices are holding up. At least for the lower end mats. I don't really know about the high end stuff, as my skill level isn't too high. I buy cheap greens off the auction house, and DE for strange dust and Greater Magic Essence, which I sell for 20s and 60s for each respectively. As I haven't been doing this for very long, I don't know exactly how it measures up compared to the "old" prices, but my general feeling is that it's possible to make quite some money from this.

EDIT: Who's heard of starnge dust????

On my server prices of pre-expansion enchanting materials (and also the items) doubled and are in short supply. Arcane dust has established at 1.5g, planar essences at 5g.
I actually buy half of my materials in AH, because it seems cheaper then disenchanting.

The simple answer to the flood of mats is to just stop disenchanting. If you are an enchanter, please always check the mat prices on AH before you buy or craft greens and blues to make enchanting mats. Very commonly I see mats cheaper then I can disenchant. Whether you can make money with any gathering profession (including disenchanting) depends on supply and demand on your server. Don't listen to other people saying how much money they can make by mining, fishing, skinning, herbing or disenchanting. You need to watch the market, possibly with auctionner, yourself.

Nelfnoob, maybe you can layoff levelling enchanting for a bit? Just quest and sell the greens instead? That should stop the money draining and make you a bit of cash.

Reverse the market! Sell greens! Lol.

I am an enchanter and I have found that the market on mats has gone up which I find bothersome because I can't get the high enough lvl drops to DE so I have to buy them to enchant stuff.

I don't rely on drops. Every time I do an AH run, I end up with over 100 disenchantable items.

I do the same. On my server, I'm able to sit in the AH and buy level 60+ greens for much, much cheaper than the enchanting mats. I've also had lots of people whisper me and offer a tip in exchange for DEing their greens.
