Mechanical Combat Pet questionsFollow

Some questions:
When I learned there were mechanical combat pets i really wanted one. I just like the idea of pets so much that I even picked warlock, so I could summon a pet. However, I am confused if I need to be an engineer to use combat pets like other engineering devices. I will take up engineering if i can get a combat pet. However, I would prefer if I could just buy the mechanical combat pet instead of changing my current profession, but I have not seen one in the AH. If I shout in town for someone to make it for me, would it be likely that somone knows?

another thing, what are he mechanics of the pets in fighting? Someone said they start attacking everything in sight. I hope thats not true since they might aggro something. How do they obey orders?

Thanks

you DO need engineering to use the pets (apart from the 10-charge yeti from a WS quest). I believe the best is the arcanite dragonling, which has a 60 sec fight time and a very long cooldown (1 hour). Apparently, the different types don't share a cooldown, but that may have changed in recent patches.

They are unique, so each engineer that makes one only makes one (if they don't know a way around it). I believe they act as hunter pets on aggressive, attacking anything near you that's unfriendly.
