All this will serve to do is make it harder for the average player to buy AH items appropriate for their level, and drive up the price for enchanters that actually enchant, making non-endgame enchants that much more obsolete.

The enchanting mats market has become a joke. For the life of me I don't see why people pay the money they do. I'm glad my enchanter had a high lvl main feeding him greens, because I can't possibly justify paying 10g for a greater eternal essence that came from an item worth about 3g.

It's too bad enchanted items isn't a viable part of the game for low level players anymore. And now AH greens are headed down the same path.

Point 1. It doesn't drive up the prices. If anything, it lowers them. I get less than 1% of the items I get on a low buyout price, and bid on less than 5% of all the items on the AH. That leaves about 95% of the stuff on the AH at overblown prices, not having anything to do with Enchantrix. What I'm urging people to do is use enchantrix to LOWER their bid prices, not raise them. To me, Enchantrix serves as a curb on inflation, rather than as a tool that creates it. If people have high prices, I don't bid or buy, especially since there is a limit on how much people will pay for low-level mats. On the other hand, it also acts as a price stabilizer, since if AH prices for items gets too high, disenchanter aren't able to afford to buy those low-level items due to lack of profit margin. Price drops as a result.

If you know you can get a 10G essence from a 3G item, why are you ever thinking of purchasing or getting fed those items from your main? Buy the 3G item and create your own. The market for mats is for those enchanters who don't know what items disenchant into (e.g. those that don't use Enchantrix).

I get most of my disenchantable items on bids. Most people prefer to buy-out when they see an item they really want (and want NOW!). I'm constantly outbid by a few coppers on the low-level items. I don't see a few coppers making the difference between afordable and out of sight.

I completely agree with Mike here. Enchantrix/Auctioneer does not, in my experience, lead to inflation at all. In fact, it leads to deflation...particularly if people that use Auctioneer always follow its suggestions.

Think about it. If Auctioneer suggests a 5% markdown to sell something and people keep following that recommendation, then inevitably prices fall. Personally, I have stopped using Auctioneer's prices most of the time, for just this reason. I have a good sense what the things I buy/sell are worth and I don't cut below it. I think the people that typically undercut are often the impatient "have to sell it now" players. People that know the market will know they don't need to undercut to sell something. And, if the market is being undercut, they'll wait until the market correction occurs before posting something at an expected price range.

I think it's important to remember, the AH isn't a vendor where you go and prices are always the same. Supply and demand dictates prices. If Greater Eternal Essence sells consistently for 10G, then I guess that's the price the market has established. If you don't want to pay that, then find another way to acquire it.

Also, using Grollog's example of 10G Greater Eternal Essence disenchanting from a 3G item simply illustrates the nature of the disenchanting market. Just about every level of greens that I'm aware of, the same relationship exists. Disenchanted materials are worth more than the value of the weapon/armor item. There are exceptions to this, where some items are sought after. But, for example, things like "of the whale", the sell value will rarely exceed the value of what it disenchants into.

The latest gamma version of Enchantrix is enchantrix-3.9.0.1560.zip (dated March 8, 2007). According to posts made in Norganna's Enchantrix forum, this is the last update going to be made for this version of Enchantrix. The next version we might see is the Alpha version of the full-GUI Enchantrix (or it might be beta, or it might not be released until Auctioneer 5.0 is ready for release - they are still defining how it will be done). If you want, you can go to Norganna's forums and read the posts for yourself.

Problems with the Gamma version (which is why it's gamma, and not release):
  • /Percentless is disabled
  • /Bidbroker is disabled
  • Items with ilevels 61-100 can't have the DE components listed (actual levels = 46-56).

  • In this thread, I've outlined various workarounds on these problems.
