Blacksmiths should be able to craft shields... among other things...

They make buckles for other crafters, so...

Why not arrow heads to improve bow damage... stuff like that...

Gun tripods to increase accuracy...

There must be tons of extra skills...

Like what? blacksmithing has a ton of recipes already.

maybe its just me but I dont see how belt buckles are all that related to arrowheads..
and because then people would scream yet again "nerf hunters" cause of our "zomg so much dmg" even if it adds .00001 dps it wouldnt matter. And I must say the new ammo is already quite nice in the dps realm

on a realistic note the only guns that were ever on tripods were ones that were too heavy to wield and fire at the same time, or ones that required more than one person to operate. Now I gotta say seeing 2 players running up to a point, setting down a tripod and mowing down alliance with gunfire would indeed be hysterical, I just dont see the practicallity of it. That and the readilly avail amount of acc bonuses on the newer gear outwieghs it.

Dont distrct blizz, let them fix engineering and actually give them more than 2-3 useful items before tackling one of the most diverse crafts that exist in the game please.

blacksmithing already does have craftable shields. theyre just rare recipes acquireable only in AQ, requiring mats from AQ. the shields themselves are more novelty than anything too.

he mentioned belt buckles because it was an item that was analogous to what he was suggesting; reagent items useful for other tradeskills.

and dont get your panties in a bunch about eng; we all know it needs help. and when i say "we" i mean "blizzard too" because theyve posted on at least two occasions that i know of on how they plan on reworking professions soon, starting with eng.

From a gun nut, although tripods are very rare except under the conditions you mention, shooting sticks (which are basically monopods) were and still are very common for traditional long-range target shooting. Many were designed to be used as hiking sticks until you found a good target, then were stuck in the ground and the barrel of your rifle rested in the crook at the top.

Sure, I think blacksmiths should be able to make them - they should add three seconds and +.0001% chance to hit to a hunter's aimed shot...

Okay, this is a hijack to a nerf hunters! thread...

woot nerf hunters!

actually on the note of shooting sticks. Something that would add 3 seconds to the shot but increase the range by say... 15 yards would be fun of course you would have to add anoter downside besides that 3 seconds, like have the cooldown be 20 seconds or something... :D

Yes I know blizzard knows but it has not happened yet nor did they say when (as usual). On the second note adding arrowheads/bullettips or what not would just add yet another thing engineers must use to make the crafted ammunition, frankly it would have to be reasonably better than vendor available ammunition to warrant the extra expedniture of paying for a blacksmith before you can make your ammo.

For example up until recently we(ranged weapon users) had thorium arrows/bullets @17.5 dps craftable by engineers but with a little rep grind we could buy ice arrows/bullets from the AV vendor @16.5 dps. They did improve this relationship more recently with the addition of fel rion shells @26dps compared to the vendor of 22dps The difference is the later is only 55 while the crafted is lvl 57. Not to mention the sheer cost of making fel iron shells its 2 fel iron bars and 1 blasting powder, which equates to about 3.5g per 200(on my server) comapared to the vendor price of 16s per 200 for the weaker ones. However with a moderate rep grind (honored with cenarion) you can buy arrows that are equal strength to the crafted fel irons but cost only 20silver and are only level 61. And then of course the king of ammunition requiring revered with cenarion, weighing in at a wicked 37 dps for 50silver is the win, but revered with a faction isnt a common thing for some so I will leave that out of calculations. These can however be compared to the last crafted ammo, adamantite shells, these bad boys though, its scary to calculate the cost, one islooking at maybe 8-10g per 200 shells rofl. It would be the ammunition you keep a single stack of for when you really need to pound something into the ground I guess, like maybe hard boss figts in instances.

If the above looked like a rant it really wasnt, it was more intended to be a comparison of crafted ammunition vs vendor ammunition.
