Where to Farm for Silk and Mageweave ClothFollow

#1 Jan 28 2007 at 12:42 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a lvl 44 warlock (horde), and I have a lot of trouble finding good grinding spots for Silk cloth, if anybody knows a good place I can solo pls tell me.
P.S. I can use mageweave too, so can anybody tell me a good mageweave farming spot for future reference?

Scarlet Monestary? I end up with heaps of silk and mageweave from fighing humanoids and undead.
Go to Tanaris for Mageweave from the Ogres. Do a search for them here and check the drop rates from the various mobs.

The Pirates in STV and Tanaris are pretty good for mageweave and other various loot.

/agreed. That is where I go to farm it.

I would suggest the ogres and thieves in Arathi/Alterac for silk cloth. If you look it up using Items/Search from the left side menu, you can see the drop percentages by mob. This should help you with your decision.

Silk,

Hillsbrad Foothills, Arathi Highland, Duskwood are good sources, just kill humanoids

Mageweave

The Hinterlands is great or if you are at all interested in grinding Timbermaw Rep, hit Felwood and farm the southern furbie camp.

The centaurs in southern Desolace are pretty good at dropping mixed silk/mageweave (lvl 34-38). For purely mageweave, I like the Dark Iron dwarves in the caves in Searing Gorge but they're a little higher (lvl 43-48?) and I can also occasionally find Dark Iron Ore to mine there for Thorium Brotherhood rep. The furbolgs in southern Felwood also have a high drop rate of mageweave, and help farm up your Timbermaw rep. At level 44, you may be a little on the low edge, but as a warlock you can probably solo pretty well.

Definitely Scarlet Monastery for silk, but the ogres in the Alterac Mountains are also good.

Arathi Highland Humanoids drop lots of silk.

I've never found a stable spot for mageweave, but both mageweave and silk drop in SM.

Oh definitely SM, I always get more silk than I know what to do with there. Mageweave, too, but not as much as silk!

I found that Alterac/Arathi humanoids are best for silk, and the humanoids in the Hinterlands are great for mageweave.

Thx for all of the posts.

All of the above mentioned are good. Recently ran ZF and got two stacks of mageweave just killing trolls inside. If you're going to be in there anyway or are high enough level it's a great place to farm mageweave not to mention a ton of nice green drops.

The best place by far for silk is SM. I can get ten stacks in a single run. For Mageweave, I recommend going to Lost Rigger cove in Tanaris. It's on the very far east point of the country. The pirates there drop Mageweave like crazy. After I did my quests there, I got around a dozen stacks.

As for quests in the area, you should pick up Pirate Hats Ahoy, Southsea Shakedown, and Wanted: Andre Firebeard. I got most of a level in one day form doing those quests.

Yea the dunemaul ogres in Tanaris are great. For future reference of any item I find it best to just do a simple search here on allakhazam.

Why?

Many times players are only gonna answer with where they have gotten a certain item the most, but without really knowing if that is actually a really good spot, or if they just seem to remember that spot.

Also the search will give you the top 3 drop spots by percent.

On doing a search for mageweave cloth you find that there are mobs with over 40% drop rate on mageweave, but they are higher lvl and/or elite. I find it best to then scroll down to the last few zones I have been leveling in for my lvl. See the best percent and head there.

By doing this you would find the dunemaul ogres are the best for your level range. And while you got the correct answer from these fine folks I'm of the mind that "give a man a fish feed him for a day, teach him to fish and you feed him for a life time".

Scarlet monastery is the best place IMO. Had a lvl 70 run me through 3 times last night and got 8 stacks of 20. Ridiculous.

Talking silk of course.
