I don't have a guide, per se, but more or less you will get whatever gems you normally get out of that type of ore. You'll get between 0 and 2 normal gems, possibly a rare gem, and sometimes some powder. You will always get something, and I think I have yet to get a rare gem without getting a normal. Most frequently is one gem and powder.

Outlands gems start with Thorium, although it's uncommon. Fel Iron, Adamantite and Khorium all give strictly Outlands gems.

Thanks for the reply, I'm stuck on 295 jewellery atm and was trying to find out which ore I needed to prospect to get the mats to get to 305. Looks like I need thorium ore, back to the real world :(

is there any use of the power that you get or is it just some junk thats you get from destroying the ore?

Like almost every 'grey' item in the game it is junk and should be sold to vendor.

eeek.. save your adamanite powder. you will require loads of this to advance. You combine four of these with 1 primal earth to make the mecurial adamantite. You will need up to 4 of these for the 370+ recipes. Plus you can get a few skill ups making them at a forge. To transmute this give a 325+ alchemist 1 primal mana, 1 primal earth and 1 primalwater (I think, off the top of my head) and they need to use the alchy lab in Shatt' city.

I have smashed a lot of ore and this is what I noticed from smashing around 400 adamantite:

I usually get (per stack of 20) 1 just powder, 1 with only 1 gem + powder, and at least 1 with 2 gems. Today I got lucky and pulled 1 elune, 1 night, and one living ruby from the same 20 stack.

I am now at 365 and my drop rate for rates went from 1 iun about 12 stacks to 1 in about 8 stacks. Could be luck or it might be influenced by the JC level, no clue.

I have had rare gems in Fel Iron. Mostly its adamantite.

Also... go back to the trainer and treat him as a vendor, browse his goods at level 295-300. He has a lot of recipes for gem cuts you can learn. I got to 325 on those.
